  • Walker Does it Again

The kid is amazing. Even more amazing we should have beaten these guys.

We have to schedule harder if we expect to get better. I fully believe playing crappy MVC schools massively contributed to our mediocrity.

That poor kid from Pittsburgh has to hope his ankles heal in time for the NCAA.

I figured the refs would let this one go the full 40 so Walker would have a chance. :D

Thumbs up to Doc's post. Playing two really good teams a year isn't enough. Come on staff, get us some tough games!

Sure wish we had a go-to-guy.

Is Walker going to be National POY? I haven't kept up with it enough to know who else it could possibly be.

Other craziness in the same tourney. Miami down 10 to Virginia with 42 seconds in game. Miami wins by 7 in OT! Anyone remember our bench at the table against Bradley with us up 13 with 3 minutes to go. Noooooo! Please coach. Noooooo! Obviously he changed his mind. Plus we didn't have a head band throwing player on the court. I guess that makes it a safe move.

He wasn't even POY in the Big East.

Jared Sullinger from Ohio State has been in the National POY conversation but as far as I'm concerned, there is no way he should receive any further consideration after this embarrassingly deplorable performance:

                      Who was B.E. POY?

33-12 not a bad night for Kemba, and he was efficient as well. 9-18 shooting and 13-14 from FT's.

                          Great player.

Well apparently it's not who's really POY, but who's team did the best.

Let me say up front, I don't follow the Big East that close, and ND not at all. So, yes, I'm speaking without 1st hand knowledge on this. Nevertheless, stat and personel wise (or lack there of) is not that close.

                            Hansbrough, SR, 6'3" guard: 35 mpg / 18.7 ppg / 3.8 rpg / 4.3 apg / 2.3 to pg / 1.3 steals pg

                            Walker, JR, 6'1" guard: 37.4 mpg / 23.4 ppg / 5.2 rpg / 4.3 apg / 2.1 to pg / 1.8 steals pg

                            Hansbrough supporting cast: 4 Seniors - 15.3 / 11.6 / 9.6/ 9.6 ppg

                            Walker supporting cast: 3 Freshmen & 2 Sophmores - 10.2 / 9.8 / 8.5 / 6.4 / 6.4 ppg

Wonder if Hansbrough could have done as much for UConn?

As a side note: It was said on another thread that coach Mike Brey wouldn't leave ND to take another opening. Losing 5 seniors, who are your top 5 players on the team who averaged 32 minutes a piece, 85% of your scoring, and 75% of your rebounds and assists, might cause an alarm to go off. I really think I'm missing something here, as ESPN's sight has only 1 recruit signed with ND for next year. Someone fill me in here?

Jimmer has 50 so far tonight.

                              He is carrying the Cougars.
