  • SIAP....and I'm not good at linking....

...but a place called the NIT Bracket Project has the Shockers as a #1 seed...small consolation, I know. And with other league tourneys to play out, could be a moot point.

That bracket projection was updated March 4th for games through March 3rd.

Yeah. Any bracket for the NIT not including da bears is outdated.

Lunardi had the Bears as one of the last four out, so they are on the edge of the bubble.

I really think MSU will make it just for the fact that no MVC regular season champ has been left out in a long while.

Unfortunately for MSU, the NCAA doesn't look at meaningless statistics like that. There have been several instances during that streak that the Valley regular season champ wouldn't have got in if they didn't win it all in St. Louis. MSU didn't do that this year and they are not getting an at-large.

Is two years "a long while?"

                    Maybe he meant No.1 seeds?

Remember, a tie is like kissing your sister. The NCAA doesn't condone such things.

Unfortunately for MSU, the NCAA doesn't look at meaningless statistics like that. There have been several instances during that streak that the Valley regular season champ wouldn't have got in if they didn't win it all in St. Louis. There could not have been more than 2 between 1994 and 2007 since the Valley got multiple bids all but 2 times between 1994 and 2007. I can't imagine a second place getting an at large if the first place team wouldn't have been chosen as an at large.

I do think it is true that UNI would not have received a bid in 2009 if they had not won the tourney, but that may be the only one.

Actually the Valley season regular season champ also got in the dance pretty much every year going back to 1978 (the first year of the Valley tournament). There is only a few expections going back that far.

So if SWOMO doesn't get an at large bid they will be in very rare company. I don't expect them to get a bid in spite of the tourney including a lot more teams today than in 1978.
