  • Season not over

I understand that this team underachieved, and that we were all ready for the NCAA after preseason expectations. However that 2005 team who I'm pretty sure was picked first in the MVC fell, and eventually played in the NIT. They salvaged that season with two NIT wins.

Assuming Marshall is back next year, winning a few games in the NIT could do a lot for this team. I really think it did a lot for that 2005 squad, I would like to think it in part helped them make the NCAA's the next year.

Just as Paul S. reported on his "Day After" blog on Shockwaves. The Bracket Project has us as a 1 seed playing Dayton. http://bracketproject.50webs.com/nit.html.

    Here is Dayton's bio. http://espn.go.com/mens-college-bask.../dayton-flyers

Other 8 seeds include Hofstra, Iowa State, and Valpo. 7 seeds are VCU, James Madison, Drexel, Ole Miss.

I would think a 1-3 seed range is about right, maybe a 4 seed. But a home game should be in order (who knows if thats a good thing)

I would like to see this team win a few games in this tournament. I'm not going to hold my breathe, but the season isn't over, and one sure fire way to get some of the fans really peaved about missing on the NCAA's would be to get 3 or more wins in the NIT.

Just my take on it, I'll be there, or watching, or listening regardless. Win or lose I'm there, at least it's not the 90's.

I agree we need to win a few in the NIT.

Be happy people we could be done for the season. And support the Shox.

I'll be there in person at home or listening/watching on the road.

I heard over the weekend in St. Louis that the combination of the NCAA Women's Tournament (which I understand WSU hosts) and a home baseball series combine to make it very difficult for the Shocks to host a first-round NIT game. I admit that I have not compared the schedules of the three activities to confirm the conflict, but it sounded reasonable at the time.

Intrust hosts the Women's tourney, not Koch, so that shouldn't matter at all. Home baseball series' have run at the same time as home b-ball games before with no trouble, so again, don't think it matters.

You are correct, the athletic dept. is going to put everything into this womens regional....needs to run smooth to have a chance at a mens regional down the road. A second round game would be just as fun.

The issue is probably having enough trained personnel to pull all the events off successfully.

To the extent not clear, when I referred to hosting the tournament, I was referring to personnel, not location. Is it inaccurate that WSU personnel will be working at IBA during the women's games?
