  • Stress Free Week

No Shocker basketball, no Shocker baseball (at least till Friday)

My blood pressure may go down.

    I may even eat right.

Hell, I just might sober up.

This does bring back memories of the Cohen/Thompson era. Basketball season would be over. Difference is, the baseball team was really good then and we didn't need to stress over them much.

Actually I will probably vegetate at the 6a tourney all day Wednesday. Lots of talent there, including our man Evan.

I guess it's stress free only if you're smart enough to just to be concerned about the outcome of games.

Does anyone else feel worn out by this season? I feel as though I have been pulling these guys along almost every game. Trying to push them over the top against UConn understanding we would get two more good RPI games if we did. Terrible start against Virginia. Close games against Tulsa and LSU knowing we couldn't afford to lose those games. Three Valley loses and a triple overtime at home. Seems like every single game mattered. We spent the entire season on a tightrope and man, I'm exhausted.
Where oh where is our T. Boone Pickens.

I feel exactly the same way... and it all started with the wonderful trip to Maui. I'm sure my age (I'm not over the hill by any stretch) has something to do with this. Yes, I'm mentally tired and have invested a lot of emotion into this season. Each year I try to temper my enthusiasm; however I can't seem to control it. I've always been a dreamer (Yes, a sunshine pumper) and my glass is usually half full. As the week has progressed, I find myself getting some energy back... and as most of you have figured out, my 'attempt' at humor helps keep me sane.

I'm actually thankful that we're one of the many teams who are at least going to taste the post season while many have already ended their seaasons. I'm honesty not sure our team will perform very well in the NIT... I honesty don't see how they can. The let down may be huge for the fans, but it must be even larger for the coaches and players. Maybe another week will allow them to ease their pain and re-charge their batteries.

Hope this works for me... :D

I'm not a man who ususally swears. However, I'm sure I've used all of George Carlin's "Seven Dirty Words" this year. I would sit in front of the TV for an away game telling myself just to enjoy the game and don't get stressed. I failed miserably.

But don't you think the majority of the NIT field are in the same boat. Many, who we might just play, may have had a similar season. And we might just play a team that still thinks they have a shot at the big dance. We are not unique in the disappointment and "worn out" department. Just sayin.

I pretty much quit stressing out once we lost to VCU in the BB. I knew then that the Valley was just going to be a one bid conference again- that it was win 3 in the Lou.

Unfortunately we could only win 1 in the Lou. Now it is time to give my full attention to Shocker Baseball.
