#7 THROUGH #10 SEEDS WILL HAVE A THURSDAY GAME. THE THREAD FOR YOUR PICK WILL BE POSTED SOMETIME ON TUESDAY.

Here are the rules for the Post Season Contest:

You are assigned to games according to the tournament seeding. For example MSU is the 1st seed in the tournament and if you had the highest score in the regular season contest, you will be assigned to MSU's first game. Contestants with a 7th through 10 seed will have to play on Thursday night! Besides predicting the winner, you must also predict the score. The winner will be determined by (1) the point spread and if needed by (2) having the closest actual score. Only the winner will advance to the next round.

Since we can't have ties, you cannot predict a score that has already been used. Therefore there could be an advantage to posting early. Of course it could turn out to be a disadvantage if something like a late injury report happens.

We have one prize for the post season tournament contest. The winner will receive a $50 gift card to Bonefish grill.

That one missed week cost me and then I just went crazy at the end.

    Congrats to the postseason participants.

I didn't miss any weeks, but my season was a bit like the Shox season. Right there, but just missed.

I wasn't in the first week and was right behind you as the #2 OUT.

As I posted before the event, I knew full well all I had to do was select MSU to win. Mathematically had I done that I would have won regardless the outcome of the game.

But honor was at stake and taking the kind gifts of true Shocker fans by betting on the Shockers to lose just doesn't seem right.

              Trop, how does this work?

Each night we log in and choose the winner of the two games being played, or just one of them?

              We pick a point spread?

The closest actual points or the point spread wins?

I am totally confused on how this works. :)

WU, since you are a #1 seed you will be assigned to MSU's game on Friday. You will be playing against the contest's 3 other #1 seeds and the winner of #8 vs #9 game played on Thursday. You only pick the winning team and final score for that game. The winner will be determined by the closest point spread. In case of tie in point spread closest to the actual score will determine the winner. If you are the winner you advance to play the winner of the UNI-CU game.

Since we had a four way tie for first place in the regular season contest the two best outcomes among the four of you will determine the winners of that contest's prizes.

Yup, one final detail. Closest actual score starting with the winner?

Example: The final score of a game is 10 to 20. Person A guessed 10 to 18, and person B guessed 11 to 19. Who wins?

I don't know, what do you think? First thought is to declare a tie and let both go to the next round. It presents a real problem if this occurs in the last game. I really don't want to buy another $50 gift card!

But sometimes you just do what you think you should.

                        I think it should be:

Closest to the winning team's score, then,
closest to the losing team's score. So in that example person A would win.

There is one other scenario where they could tie:

                        The score is 10 to 20, Person A chooses 9 to 19 and Person B chooses 11 to 21.

In that case I believe the tie-breaker should be whoever posted their score first (without editing).

Or maybe the closest without going over.

Thanks for the help. This plan is adopted in case of a tie for in the championship game. If there is a tie in other games, both contestants will advance to the next round.
