  • UCONN Tank Job?

    3-3 record this month
    8-7 conference record
    Mid-pack Big East team
    Coach facing suspension
Is the surprise of '10 a tourny team?
How bad does that Maui loss sting? (Stung while it was happening for me. Refs didn't sound good on the radio & I was never convinced I was hearing wrong).
WSU collapsed from a top 10 ranking in 07 so I guess it happens.

I think UCONN's problem is that they rely too much on one player. Any team that does that usually falters at the end of the season as that one player starts getting tired from having to carry too much of the load.

I was gonna post a comment about the Uconn game yesterday but just doint get around to it

The question was gonna be ,

Comparing Uconn , and WSU which team has improved as the season has gone on, and which one is basically were it was at the start of the season?

IMHO WSU has improved as a team , gotten better ( although not as much as I had hoped) and U Conn is still a ONE horse show , the Kimba Show .
From the road I listen (Tune In radio) at home I watch ( season Ticks )

UConn was supposed to have a down year this year if I recall correctly. I think the case can be made that maybe they exceeded expectations and maybe are just coming back down to earth now. I also agree that they rely too much on Kimba and if a team can slow him down, they have a great shot at winning. I would assume that there are many teams and coaches in the Big East that are capable to designing a defense to slow him down.

Seriously? 11-7 against the Top 100 and the RPI's of the teams they lost to are 6, 10, 14, 17, 23 (x2) and 51. And our fanbase is going to scrutinize them when our own team can't beat a 200 + RPI team at home and has 1 weak-ass top 100 win against a 12 loss Tulsa team. Gimme a break.

UCONN was predicted to finish toward the bottom half of the Big East if I recall correctly and now look what they did. They got scoreboard on us so quit being salty. We all wish we had a Kemba type gamebreaker player on our squad.

Exactly!! I think if you were to ask any UConn fan about this years season, they would tell you that they are very happy with the out come. If you ask most Shocker fans about this years season, i think most honest fans will tell you they are disappointed.

The only thing I am disappointed in is that we have not locked in an at-large bid at this point in time. Winning the MVC tournament (and as an add on, the conference championship) woujld certainly resolve this situation quite nicely.

Doesn't seem to be bothering BYU so far. But I guess they do play lesser competition most of the time. Air Force is no Georgetown.

UConn has exceeded expectations. Shockers will have met expectations only if they win today.

Unfortunately, KC Shox statistics on UConn not only bolster UConn's argument but help make the argument why the Big East could get as many as 11 teams, while the MVC could wind up with Evansville , Indiiana State or Northern Iowa going to the dance while the best two teams go to the NIT... :-x

Unfortunately under today's conditions, if that happened MO State would go to the NIT as the regular season champ and WSU would probably be pushed down to the CBI or CIT.

If MO State wins the tourney then WSU would probably go to the NIT (barring a first round loss). If anyone else wins the tourney then MO State is guaranteed an NIT bid and unfortunately there is a good chance they wouldn't take a second Valley team this year.

NIT invites are not as easy to get as they used to be, just ask VCU. They got snubbed last year after barely losing out in the CAA.

Disappointed? Hell no. I am one of the people who went to school during the Cohen/Thompson eras. I lived through a record of 40-69.

I remember moving to St Louis and going to the tourney, coming back home and getting a call from my parents. They told me they saw me on TV. I guess going into a comercial they needed some Wichita State fans, My wife and I and a couple dozen more were it.

I remember going to the Tourney in St Louis and having some fans from other teams ask who we were cheering for. After we said Wichita State, they would tell us, we'll root for WSU also, they need the fans.

7 losses on the season. I remeber hoping for 7 wins on the season. 20+ wins, yeah that's not going to happen.

Out of our 7 loses 6 of them were by 5 points or less and we left these games a little disappointed. I remeber leaving a game after a 5 point loss exited that we kept it that close.

We have a group of great guys who represent our university with class. We have a group of guys tied for first going into the last game of the season. We are going into St Louis with as good as chance and any to win it all. We have a team that, for most of the season, was getting recognition as a possible top 25 team. We have sold more all season passes than any other 2 schools combined.

To steal from a former poster, ITS A GREAT DAY TO BE A SHOCKER!!
