They know the potential future with the program and how they have now faded into obscurity.

I wouldn't be too quick to say this. They look much like WSU a few years ago with some young talent that couldn't quite put it all together. In a year or two, they could be really dangerous.

They're not the only team that looks like that. Something tells me the Valley will be much more competitive next year and for 2 or 3 years after that....

Next year the Shox won't have the depth they have this year, and may never have again. But they will still put 8 or so people on the floor that will give this team a chance to stay among the top of the Valley.

I wish Creighton was fading, unfortunately they will probably be a thorn in our side again in a couple of years. I don't think they will be THAT great next year while adding quite a few new faces to the mix, but after that I suspect they will be competitive.
