  • Great Game! Suprised More Fans Aren't Talking About It!

Wow!!! What a game! Back and forth it went!!!

Aaron Ellis - you da man!!! Great finish to bury Creighton!!!

So we're 23-6! Won all our road games in conference which is insane. I don't care that the Valley is down this year...going undefeated in league play is nuts. How that can't be seen by the NCAA selection committee come selection Sunday is not only a travesty, but a disservice to Division 1 college athletics.

A few things the selection committee should applaud regarding the Shockers this season:

    1. - Won all conference ROAD GAMES (excemption of at Missouri St. thus far)
    2. - Swept big-name MVC traditional power Creighton
    3. - Won on the road at MVC power UNI
    4. - Hung with Big East Power #14 UConn
    5. - Had the balls to go play on the road at #6 San Diego St.
    6. - And did what we're asked to do by beating 2 teams from BCS Conferences in Virginaia and LSU.

Question: Hmmmm...so what's wrong with our resume???

Answer: The system is a friggin' JOKE!

I'm not going to worry about being snubbed until someone beats us in St Louis.

Wasn't the San Diego St. trip part of the MVC/MWC Challenge? I don't think it was a voluntary visit on our part.

        The selection folks are going to consider these factors too;

Bad loss to SIU (at home)
9 wins against teams with 200 + RPI (40 percent of our wins)
        0 for 3 versus the Top 50
1 for 4 versus the Top 100 (and that's against a 12 loss Tulsa team)
        SOS of 106

Not exactly earth shattering is it? On a more positive note, I'm glad we are not Bradley.

There you go again bringing a little common sense and a few facts into this rose colored wearing / sunshine pumping thread.

They have to win in St. Louis for an NCAA bid.
Let's hope he can hit a D-1 Curve ball!

            Shirley,

Did you see how many bubble teams lost last night? WSU still has a reasonable shot. I'd say 50/50 if they can win out until a loss to MSU in the finals.

Let's show some "common sense" in both directions... positive and negative.

Simply put, beating MSU at least once (preferably in the tournament) is crucial. Twice would be even better.

I bet if we get that tourny win over MSU, good things happen :)

It's been a while since Coach Marshall has been to the NCAA's. Frustration for GM has to settle in if WSU finishes 26-7 and gets snubbed. Hope that doesn't happen cuz coach was high on the MVC (multiple bids) before coming here.

There are different ways they could do it. But it's pretty obvious that they do. Less home games or H/H with mids I don't care. Hell, they can buy better cupcakes and it would help. Increase the margin of error or we're in this same boat every damn year.

Or he can keep giving us the yawn fest of cupcakes every year and we can sweat it out come selection sunday.

Granted, next year will be OK with BB and MWC/MVC games but I'd like to see them schedule a good series. Tulsa is good. Texas Tech wasn't a bad get. But I believe we can do more.

Like most of us I hope we can replace a few of this year's game with better RPIs. Next year's PR Tip Off might turn out to be much better for us than Maui. There is no D-2 host and all the announced teams have a current RPI of less than 100. Two are under 50 with one being in the top 10. All the teams with higher RPI's have good players returning. One team is yet to be announced but with any luck we could face 3 top 100 teams and very possibly a top 50 team or two.

Even if those in charge decide to keep 4 buy games we could upgrade the UMKC slot as that contact has expired. UNLV and Utah State will hopefully be equal or close to what the MVC/MWC and bracketbuster gave of this year. And of course if we perform well we will get another good bracketbuster team.

The MVC will not be a ball of fire next year, but some teams will certainly be better. I expect a little more breathing room next year, but we will still still to win, win, win.
