I thought this was worth putting up as a sticky...

    BIG ANNOUNCEMENT

My new blog is officially open for business. I am still working on some parts of it, but for the most part, the foundation has been laid. Please refer to www.march247.blogspot.com for future updates to my "Jamarotology". I'll try to post some snippets on shockernet, but hey, the reason for the blog is so that people will read it.

I plan on posting new "articles" every once in a while, and I look forward to discussions in the comments section. If you have a comment about the blog itself, feel free to send me an email at march247@gmail.com. I'd love to hear any suggestions about formatting, content, or anything else.

Thank you very much ShockBand. I was rather "Shocked" to sit down for breakfast and see this put up as a sticky! A very pleasant surprise!

I don't want to drive traffic away from Shockernet at all, and I plan to continue posting here as well. I'll try not to make everything all about my blog. Shouldn't be too hard... Shockernet is always active with plenty of things to discuss.

    Thanks again.

            Hey guys!

I'm one week into this new endevour and I need help. I'm getting visitors, but I'm getting almost no questions or comments. One of my goals is to turn March_24_7 into an interactive site. Obviously, interactive takes more than just me.

What types of topics would you like me to cover?
What teams would you like to see featured as my Team of the Day?
What ways can I change my format to make things better in your eyes?

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Obviously, I'm bummed about not having the Shox in the bubble picture, but I'm in this for the long haul. Hopefully next year I'll be blogging about the Shockers' NCAA seed all the way up to Selection Sunday.

Oh, and this year isn't over either. Last I checked, the path to a championship in St. Louis is there for the taking!

Have you asked the admin at MVCFans if you can post a link over there? I think he'd go for that.

How about an in-depth article on recruiting, JH4P.

Describe our needs, position by position as you see them for the 2012/13 recruiting class.

Plus, if an additional slot opens up for the 2011/2012 class, where is our greatest need, PG, PW, or Center? And for this exercise, let's avoid the bailout of "best available player," which is a given.

JH4P, maybe i'm doing something wrong, but I can't get my comments to post on the site. Tried twice to post on the UAB blog.

My question is, JH4P, you seem to have a good system as to how teams will be selected.

How in the world does a conference with 7 teams in the RPI Top 100 not have a lock, when other teams are judged in or out based on their performance against those teams?

Downtown, I have no idea why you are having trouble posting comments. I just visited the site while signed out and was easily able to post something under the name "anonymous". Can you explain what is happening when you try to post?

As for CUSA, the best summary of what has happened is to look at the individual teams. Tulsa was 136 in the non-conf RPI, but they are currently 10-5 in conference and have moved into the top 100. Central Florida was RPI #10 out of conference, but they are only 6-9 in CUSA play and have dropped to RPI #52. You can keep going down the list of teams and you will keep finding reasons that teams are top 100, but not NCAA worthy. Well, atleast not NCAA locks. There is just a huge logjam of teams that are truly the 50th to 100th best teams in the country. That makes for tough games night in and night out, but not necessarily for multiple bids.

60Shock, I appreciate your suggestion, although I have to admit that it is outside my specialty. I'm not a recruiting expert at all. Also, while I am very willing to write entire blog entries on specific teams, I'm not looking to dig quite as deep as your are suggesting. For example, my "Team of the Day" posts are focused on a single team, but I'm simply giving a quick rundown for that team's chances of getting an atlarge bid. I'm not breaking things down into a player-by-player analysis.

Just a heads up that I did a fun blind resume comparison today on my blog. For those of you who like those things, I think you will enjoy this one.

I posted this on your blog, but will post it here as well:

                          I like doing "blind picks". I picked A, C, then B.

Of course, they're not completely blind. It was pretty easy to tell B was a Big Six team and that C was a mid-major from an upper middle mid-major conference. B was harder to tell, but looked like a top 10 mid major conference team.

It was close between A and C, but A's record (and win %) against the top 100 (9-6)did the trick for me. Good teams, given enough quality games (top 100) will win their share. Sometimes, however, it's the ability to have enough of those games that's the problem and to get a good reading.

B and C had about the same % wins among the top 100 and their bad losses were a push for me. The big difference was that B had no middle strength (100-200) to their schedule and what they did have, they were only .500 against.(3-3). C was .900 (9-1). The bottom of B's schedule was awful. Knowing home, neutral, and road games would have been helpful.

ShockTalk, it looks like your comment hasn't shown up yet. You aren't the first to have problems, and I'm getting a little irritated that I can't find the problem. I'll continue to look into it. Did the comment show up for you after you hit "send"? Does the comment show up when you visit the site now? If so, then I'm really confused.

It did show up after I posted, but it isn't there now.
