But I'm not convinced of (a), and I am convinced that (b) had not been the case. It was a pretty rough game. So if the officiating principle is that you can't swallow the whistle in the closing seconds on something you've been calling all game long, doesn't it also follow that you can't blow the whistle in the closing seconds on something you've been ignoring all game long?
