  • Ben Jacobson

Now that Dana Altman is gone. Ben Jacobson has to be the biggest cry baby in the valley. The foul count was 8-2 in the 1st half, and our guy got hammered, and he complains. I recall him doing the same thing in Wichita earlier this year as well. Has he always been like this?

In fairness, the vast majority of us whine when we are getting our asses handed to us on a platter.

The Panthers had NO answers last night, and attempting to make the game 8 on 5 was really the only hope they had.

Yep. When the Art of the Flop backfires on ya, you will get very desperate. Looks like the whiners really start showing their colors when they start putting together 3-game losing streaks.
          Deuces Valley.
          ... No really, deuces.

Appears to me that the officials working valley games have caught on to Koch's tiresome act of flopping and waving of arms.

However, they occaisonally fall for some their other players rendition of "That Barney Rubble. What an actor" routine.

I loved JT slamming it down while O'Rear flopped on the ground like a fish out of water here in Wichita.

Guys, I love HCGM to death, but this is one subject where we may have to look in the mirror and take a look at our own coach.

I think Ben Jacobsen is the best at staying stoic. I think he complains the least.

I respect him more than any of the others I can think of.

                But yes, they all complain.

I would really like to be able to hear some of the conversations between coaches and the ref that has to stand next to him during free throws on that end.

huh, besides HCGM first year, i hardly ever see him complain to the refs, I actually heard people complain that he needs to get on them refs alot more.

                      False.

Gregg just gives them the look that says "you know damn well that was BS" and smiles.

I attended the Friends/Kansas Wesleyan game last night before the Shocker game. I stood near the end of the Friends bench where a very questionable call occured that didn't delight Dale Faber in the least. Free throws occured as Faber and the "offending" official were standing next to each other. Let me just say this...Faber didn't mince words with the official about the perceived error in judgement. Frankly I couldn't believe the official didn't "T" him up two times for the colorful language and personal attacks. Although I didn't have to pay to get in...it would have been worth the price of admission.

HCGM "works" the officials proibably as much as any coach. He does have heated conversations with them one onone, but also seems to be chipping at them every time they are within earshot. I wish I knew what he was saying, but his gestures make it appear that it is more of a discussion, Q & A type thing rather than a gold old-fashione baseball-type rhubarb.

"We have to pass it, to find out what's in it".

A physician called into a radio show and said:
"That's the definition of a stool sample."

Thats standard Fabes! I'm sure if the ref had worked his games before he was used to it.

I don't mean to be off topic, but one last comment on Dale Faber. Those of you who know him know he has battled a comfortable and healthy balance with his weight. He has lost a whole person in the last couple of years. If you haven't seen him in that time, you wouldn't recognize him. It appears he is happy about his weight & health. He is still the same spirited Fabes on the bench, so nothing has changed there. It was also good to see a couple of former Shocker walk-ons, Brett Steven & Reggie Britton. Steven scored 20, while Britton added 10 in the Falcons 66-59 win over KWU.
