It's easy to say this after a win against an MVC bottom dweller. Hell, Heights high could beat Ill St. tonight.

Ask this question again after we have played UNI, MSU and VCU.
No they couldn't. Illinois State has good young talent, and it has taken them awhile to hit their stride. Over the last 4 games, ISU has been playing as well as anyone, except WSU.

This team is better than a whole bunch of at large teams I've seen over the last 10 years. Does that mean they deserve to be in the tournament? No Does it mean they will get there? Again, no.

KC, your constant dismissing of practically everything this program does well was old a couple years ago. The sad thing is you make a lot of solid, valid points, but you're so damned consistent with your negativity that it loses all of it's value.
Good gosh, really? My CONSISTENT theme this season has been pretty simple to decipher. Although I am happy we are again a top tier MVC team, will have another 20+ win season and in first place there is one glaring issue with this team that should give all of you a reality check. They can't win the big game. They are a big goose-egg against teams that are at least equal in talent to us and until they can demonstrate they can win a big game over a comparable program, then the verdict is still out on this team.

Don't get me started with Ill St. They play the worst non-con schedule in the MVC ever since their new head coach got there, and please don't try to justify how well they have been playing of late with three straight MVC wins. Yeah, against teams who have sub .500 records. Seriously, they win by 4 at home against So. Ill, they win by 1 at Bradley and win at home by 2 points against Drake. Whoopdie freakin' dooo. They are a piss poor team this year and a win by us by a large margin was to be expected again last night. BUSINESS AS USUAL as far as I'm concerned with that crap team. Were you surprised that we won last night?

I have one concern, this conference is not preparing this team for post season play when we will see good teams. In MVC play, we have outscored our opponent by 10+ points 11 times. The Shox are not being tested and when they do play a team that is just as good as they are, they fall apart or rather, can't figure out how to win.

None of us should be satisfied with this team until they can win big games. Do I need to point fingers at all the people on this board who were pissed off after losing at home to MSU and UNI? This team needs a win over a big-time opponent. I truly believe if they can get one, it will be a huge learning experience and vault them to the next level.

    • I wonder if we need to win a close one (against a good team preferably) to hone our crunch time skills. But I would certainly would not object to a thrashing of UNI, MSU, and VCU either. A win over one of these just might move us from really clicking like we are now to having some added swagger, which could really help in STL and beyond.

        • Were we in on Carmicheal at all, recruiting-wise? Anybody know?

More Ben Smith please. The kid is an absolute stud.

TM tried to rush things at times, was too quick and out of control at times, etc. That's really my only complaint.

A solid win tonight. Need to continue that on Tuesday.

            Alex Rubin is a whiner.
Yeah, a HCGM timely time out saved a turnover and/or missed shot by Toure' on one sequence where he was out of control.

TM needs to learn to use his left hand instead of trying to reverse the ball by bending his wrist backwards..

            • Don't forget about Ill St. taking UNI to the wire in Cedar Falls, KC. You don't give WSU enough credit when they win, and you're all over them when they slip up. The Shockers are putting it all together, that's plain to see.. never mind that RPI BCS BS that Jay Bilas rants about for teams he's never even seen. Or: Drake vs UNI>UCLA vs St John's

Kind of like our close win against Indiana St? Granted they aren't world beaters, but right now either is UNI, MSU or VCU. I think that close win is the reason we are playing so solid on both sides of the ball recently. I don't think we need another one right now. Let's just keep kicking arse!!!
