The mop-up players and walk-ons were terrible. They were in with over 5 minutes left in the game, and did not even score 1 bucket. All they could do was lose the ball.

Oh well, next time they will shine.

There is a reason they are mop-up players. Plus ILS pretty much kept their primary rotations in the game throughout.

Tyler Richardson did get one bucket and I thought one free throw, but the box score indicated he went 0-2 at the line.

This was a great game to chat with the people I was sit beside and get to know them. We didn't have to worry about missing any exciting parts of the game.

What happened to Carmichael? He was supposed to be one of the more prominent big men in the league this year.

I really like Ben Smith too. You just had a feeling during Shocker Madness that he would have a good second semester. I won't say that I think Smith and Blair are the keys to whatever success we have in March because that would jinx the whole thing. It will be interesting to see how Ben parlays this semester into his senior year.

Ben's listed on the roster at 6'5". He looks closer to 6'3" to me, but he does play like his is 6'5" so maybe that is why he is listed at that.

Ben Smith just misses getting his third Prouty Rating in the 600's in a row with a 0.598.

Murry skips the 600's and gets a 0.717 Prouty Rating.

It's easy to say this after a win against an MVC bottom dweller. Hell, Heights high could beat Ill St. tonight.

I really can't think of a single complaint tonight. Everyone played well. Missed too many free throws first half but the game was never in doubt so it didn't really matter.

Good solid basketball tonight. Margin could have been 30+ if Marshall acted like a BCS coach and thrashed em.

More Ben Smith please. The kid is an absolute stud.

TM tried to rush things at times, was too quick and out of control at times, etc. That's really my only complaint.

A solid win tonight. Need to continue that on Tuesday.

No they couldn't. Illinois State has good young talent, and it has taken them awhile to hit their stride. Over the last 4 games, ISU has been playing as well as anyone, except WSU.

This team is better than a whole bunch of at large teams I've seen over the last 10 years. Does that mean they deserve to be in the tournament? No Does it mean they will get there? Again, no.

KC, your constant dismissing of practically everything this program does well was old a couple years ago. The sad thing is you make a lot of solid, valid points, but you're so damned consistent with your negativity that it loses all of it's value.

+1. I appreciate KC's healthy dose of reality and keeping a lot of the sunshine pumpers in check.

However, there are lots of things this team has done well. While nothing is totally perfect, even I can understand the good things that have come out of our team. You can say a good thing once in a while, KC. We're 20-4 for God's sake. (Oops, sorry. Only 19-4 against D-1 competition.. :roll: )

Illinois State carried themselves much better this time around.. they didn't hang their heads. But, man, give WSU full credit.. they are getting into a frickin' zone.. 'just walking right over teams. Hats off to them.

I just love Ben Smith.

He makes shots, but it seems he is always in the right spot in scrums and he comes out with the ball. He just has a very nice nose for the ball.

Ben Smith is playing like Cooz played going down the stretch in '06. Kid has a sick nose for the ball. His stroke from behind the arc is sweet (one weapon PJ didn't use as much.)

Solid performance tonight from the double nickel rotation ... 10 interchangeable parts is a thing of beauty. Shocks played with the Redbirds tonight like a cat plays with a ball of yarn.
