Show me where the committee sees anything related to conference finish.

    THEY DON'T.
Wonder who the 1 is? :D 8) :posterwu:

Why can't we have both? If we win out, we win the Valley...by looking at the Valley, winning out isn't all that far fetched. I would prefer for our 2 Valley losses be against good teams and not 70+ RPI teams. Going back and looking at the 05-06 season, the top half of the Valley had a lot of good wins and we got 4 teams in the NCAA tournament a loss to another top Valley team didn't hurt. Looking at it now, we’re a one bid league…You can think little league all you want and be happy with a crappy Valley title, but I want NCAA tournament bids.

So in this world, the following teams were happy finishing 1st in their conferences last year...they didn't care about the NCAA tournament.

        Jackson State
        Quinnipiac
        Coastal Carolina
        Belmont
        Stony Brook
        Weber State
        Pacific
        Kent State

I'm going to go out on a crazy limb here and say that the teams named above would have preferred to have had a chance to get an at large bid. Or maybe they were just happy winning their crappy conferences....

However, Fever will win the regular season posting championship. His trophy is this thread inscribed on a plaque that he can put on his mantel.

          Eternally pessimistic.

"Yeah, right. I haven't done NEARLY enough posting to earn this award, or any other award for that matter. Guess I'll have to spend another solid 72 hours straight on ShockerNet and MVCfans. Fat chance if I can't get ValleyTalk up and running again."
Some people are doing a lot of talking for me. Ironically, my posting presence has decreased significantly this year. You may have not noticed it while trying to pimp out articles on the examiner.

I've kept my lips tight on some of those articles. I could have opened up a massive critique fest on them that wouldn't have ended pretty for you. So please, don't test me.. :good:

Equating those conferences with the Valley is disheartening.

If we were in one of those craptastic conferences, then the rationale would be totally different. Apples and oranges comparison going on here.

Added bonus to winning the league is top seed in the tournament, which by the way would be an interesting twist on the poll: "Win the league but lose in the tournament" vs. "2nd or 3rd in the league but lose in the tournament with 2 top 50 wins."

Getting a bottom feeder 1st round, an also ran in the 2nd round, and playing for the tournament championship is more probable with 1st or 2nd regular season finish. 3rd gets more dicey.

                Fever - you're a trouble maker. Thanks.

                      I try. :D

If we finish 3rd, I will be severely disappointed. Unfortunately, that still isn't out of the realm of possibilities.

It might seem like apples to oranges to you now, but come selection Sunday when we get 1 bid along with all of those conferences, it will be apples to apples. I do hope I'm wrong, BTW....but honestly all I care about is us getting it, couldn't care less about the rest of the Valley.

If the regular season champ wins it, then you have a point. Those other conferences aren't in the same situation.

I do agree with your last point. I'm kinda caring less and less about the Valley after seeing some of their fans' thoughts on us. WSU first and foremost. Now if another Valley team happens to squeak in, I'll definitely be rooting for them.
