  • Which would you rather have?

A Valley title with less Top 50 wins or finishing 2nd or 3rd with one or two extra Top 50 wins?

Assume that in either situation an NCAA at-large bid is not a lock.
    Deuces Valley.
    ... No really, deuces.

Neither, we have to have BOTH to be in a good situation to get an at large bid.

Well you can't have both. It's either A or B.

As ShockTalk mentioned in the other thread, winning the Valley by 2 or 3 games looks way better than getting 1 more Top 50 win.

Tell me what Top 50 wins meant to MSU in 2006.

Given two foolish choices, nobody is going to pick number 2 over number 1.

Was it a good or bad loss though?

Expanding the field to 68 only helps the lower tier teams in the Big Six conferences. However, with that being said, by winning out the regular season, finishing strong, and with getting at least 2 wins in STL makes it hard to keep us out. With that scenario, I believe we will be in.

Well it wasn't a good win for Fever. Shox1989 isn't even a Top 50 poster on this board according to my metric. Another website uses a different formula and Shox1989 squeeks in at 49.

However, Fever will win the regular season posting championship. His trophy is this thread inscribed on a plaque that he can put on his mantel.

The question is...what would be the tone of his acceptance speech...good - bad - indifferent?

I want titles, regular season or tournament. That should be the first order of business every year.

                          Eternally pessimistic.

"Yeah, right. I haven't done NEARLY enough posting to earn this award, or any other award for that matter. Guess I'll have to spend another solid 72 hours straight on ShockerNet and MVCfans. Fat chance if I can't get ValleyTalk up and running again."

Selection committee don't give a flying fu** about conference finish.

Show me where the committee sees anything related to conference finish.

                            THEY DON'T.
