  • Lucas O'Rear

    On PantherNation they are saying that he broke his ankle and is done for the year. Tough break for them.

    That is some serious breaking news.

      Regarless of whether you like UNI or not, that's a shame, especially in his senior year. Wouldn't wish that on anybody. Remeber John Cooper? Guess he won't be pitching in the minors this spring either.
      Where oh where is our T. Boone Pickens.

          If there is a team somewhere that can find a way to overcome that, it's UNI.

          I would NOT want to be the first team that plays them.

            :yes:

            It is quite a blow though. He does A LOT of things for that team.

            Who's going to flop with Koch in the paint now?

              Never good to see injuries in the MVC. :(

                Not good for them or the MVC. I always like the idea of beating a team at full strength than getting a win with an asterisk.

                    Bad = O'Rear getting hurt
                    Worse = Getting hurt less than a month before spring training starts.

                    That really messes up a shot at a baseball career. It's tough enough to battle from a 13th round pick and make any progress in the minors. Getting started on that a month or two late can be a major setback.

                          Bah I want 'em full strength! No excuses! Get well O'Rear -- does rest of the season mean tournament too? Guessing since he signed with the Reds he won't be too eager to push his ankle?

                            Very unfortunate indeed.

                            The kind of guy that you kind a of dislike when he is on another team but you would love to have on your team.

                            Hopefully, this injury does not derail his pursuit of a career in baseball too much.

                              Always hate to see this. Make no doubt about it, regardless what one may think of O'Rear as a player, he did an unselfish act by not leaving UNI. After the great season they had, no one would/should have critized him if he had pursued his baseball career. I hope this doesn't hurt his chances in the long run.
