  • 10,000+ fans streak

Does anyone have any idea when the streak of CKA having 10,000 or more fans started? Was it the sweet sixteen year? I feel like we must of had 9,000 somewhere in between then and now..

I suppose sold tickets, because that is what the department always goes by.

If you're counting postseason, it would've been this year. If you're just counting regular season, I want to say we played a Texas Pan-American afternoon Sunday game, early in the Sweet 16 year that had 9000.

          Where did 10000+ fans streak?

I've heard nothing about this. You'd think it would be newsworthy.

I had heard something about it last year, was pretty sure it was reliable. I didn't even consider the NIT or CBI games, I guess those wouldn't count.

Maybe I'm just off my rocker

I'm pretty sure there have been 10K+ sold for every game since Murry and Kyles were Freshmen.

I believe I recall the sold out streak ending in Murry and Kyles So years, but I don't recall hearing a number announced that started with a 9 in any of those games.

And I'm wrong. I checked goshockers and found this:

              03/07/10 1:05pm vs Northern Iowa L 52-67 9297
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.

That was the pathetic Valley championship game in St. Louis.

I'll have to check box scores, but I'm pretty sure there is no streak of any importance going right now.

That's right, because we barely had 9,000 at the Nevada game last year. I'm don't think it's possible to have less than 10,000 at a game right now given the 1,000 by default given to students, plus season tickets sold....

I think I remember Mike Kennedy talking about the 10,000+ streak for regular season games earlier this season. I don't remember hearing him mention it lately.

I asked a friend tonight who always knows everything about the Shockers about the streak.

He immediately said that the last time the Shockers drew less than 10,000 for a regular season home game was 12/1/2004 against USF. He said the attendance that night was around 9600 and that the weather was bad.

I was very impressed that he knew the answer so quickly. So I asked him how many games is that (in a row with 10,000+) and he couldn't say for sure but thought it was around 100.

Somebody needs to ask Kennedy about this on Shock Talk. That is a very impressive streak.
