After a somewhat subdued first game, the jawing was considerably stronger for game 2.

Best rag of the night ...

(To Don Lambert) -- "Don, you're hitting seven-hole split squad -- that's 14-hole regular season."

      Runner-up ...

The entire Black team dugout throwing their hats on the field when Ryan Hege struck out for the third straight time. (He also whiffed on three pitches to end the game, but there was no time to break out the sombrero.)
“The rebellion on the populist right against the results of the 2020 election was partly a cynical, knowing effort by political operators and their hype men in the media to steal an election or at least get rich trying. But it was also the tragic consequence of the informational malnourishment so badly afflicting the nation. ... Americans gorge themselves daily on empty informational calories, indulging their sugar fixes of self-affirming half-truths and even outright lies.'

After watching two games, they are either going to have to move the fences in or go to the softball stadium for some home runs next season.

Thanks to the new bats, but since everyone is using them it's a wash. I actually think this might help than hurt. We have never been traditionally known as a power offense. Gene recruits speed, athleticism and defense. Hopefully, the new bats are more conducive to the type of player we have.

Actually that is more myth than fact. If you look at WSU historically, their power numbers are in the upper 70-90% percentile of college baseball. WSU CWS years they average 1.1 HR/G

Those years where WSU could succeed with lower HR numbers were when WSU had good pitching staffs and could afford less offense. But when you have a bad offense and pitching staff like in 2009, you as season when your struggling to stay over 0.500.

              1978-1989: 1.14 HR/G
              1990-1999: 1.07 HR/G
              2000-2005: 0.81 HR/G
              2006-2010: 0.71 HR/G

So, was there a softball homerun derby? I haven't heard or read anything about alumni weekend.
