“The rebellion on the populist right against the results of the 2020 election was partly a cynical, knowing effort by political operators and their hype men in the media to steal an election or at least get rich trying. But it was also the tragic consequence of the informational malnourishment so badly afflicting the nation. ... Americans gorge themselves daily on empty informational calories, indulging their sugar fixes of self-affirming half-truths and even outright lies.'”
The second person that used the word "solid". Why? Because he enrolled at Baylor? I think not.
I wish the kid the best, and I hope everything works out for his family. I will cheer for him and hope for his success but a kid that hits just under the Mendoza line and can't crack the lineup for freaking Baylor isn't likely going to do much for us just because he went to Baylor....oooooooo.

I'm going to hope for the best and say that his head wasn't into the game or the program and it showed on the field. Perhaps the guy(s) ahead of him were just a wee bit better which relegated him to spot duty. I'm going to say he will hit .299 with 11 HR's this season. :D

I view "solid" as the appropriate level of praise. Lambert's probably not Schebler ... but, dude, it's freaking September. Getting a position player who has started a fair number of games in the Big XII is generally better than stealing a guy from NOC-Enid. Solid get. The end.

I guess it all depends on what your definition of "solid" is. This is not a solid pickup based on anything I can see. At best you hope he is a "sleeper" pickup (except his summer ball doesn't support this) who just needs the opportunity.
I don't see any reason to be thrilled or disappointed by this addition. When Gene says I think he has the potential to be a hitter then I trust him. He is just a definite maybe. I was excited about Schebler because he proved himself somewhat. But our season doesn't depend on whether this guy is good or not. We have 34 players to fill nine spots. Its exciting to add players because its just a numbers game; the more entries you have the more chance that one guy in each position will be able to deliver the offense and defense for the season. He is a good defender so if they get his offense in gear, he might be a contributor. If not, he joins twenty or so players in the dugout. I am most concerned about stability and offense from our outfield. I don't have a problem with Walker but to me, second base is open. Fine at catcher, fine at first fine at short (although Grimes has to hit over .300), fine at 3rd. Hopefully avoid the slumps this year.
