  • Summer Ball Good News - Coy/Schebler

seems to be more bad news than good news so far regarding Shockers and summer ball - but a couple bright spots.

WSU baseball player Johnny Coy leads the wood-bat MINK League with eight home runs and 32 RBI through 25 games for St. Joseph. He is hitting .370. There was sentiment among WSU coaches to try to convince Coy to go to the Northwoods League and face better pitchers. Outfielder Scott Schebler, who will be a sophomore at WSU, is tied for the lead in the Northwoods (also a wood-bat league) with six homers. He is third with 26 RBI through 32 games with Green Bay and is hitting .279.

Green only hitting .176 thru July 6th. I wouldn't worry about it one way or another. Looks to be a solid league and is Greens first colligant level action. Whats important for him is to continue to get the playing time he has and keep seeing that level of pitching.

I didn't see Harbutz or Goro listed on the box score but when I checked about a week ago they both were under .200 as well, just for a little reference. I think Harbutz is out with injury now though.

Grimes is second on his team in hitting thru 92 at bats with a .315 avg, so thats encouraging.

“The rebellion on the populist right against the results of the 2020 election was partly a cynical, knowing effort by political operators and their hype men in the media to steal an election or at least get rich trying. But it was also the tragic consequence of the informational malnourishment so badly afflicting the nation. ... Americans gorge themselves daily on empty informational calories, indulging their sugar fixes of self-affirming half-truths and even outright lies.'

Elam was Tournament pitcher MVP and Parker Tournament Defensive MVP. I like pitching and defense.

Scott Schebler has been selected to play in the Northwoods All-Star Game and, as the league's home run leader, will likely participate in the Home Run Derby.

Tuesday, July 20: Home Run Derby at 6:05 p.m. with the All-Star Game at 7:35 p.m.

The All-Star Game will be streamed over the internet on NorthwoodsLeague.tv.

Tobin Mateychick started for Valley Center last night in Hutchinson in the WJL playoff championship game. It was his first start for Valley Center, who will get a good seed in the NBC,

Schebler went 1 for 1 with a walk and a run scored in the Northwoods All-Star game last night. He did not hit an HR in his Home Run Derby appearance.
