Should be a solid weekend rotation. We may have the same issues as this season though with the consistencey of our mid-week starters and our bullpen. Hopefully, will have a enough guys step up to fill these needs.

      As expected, congrats Jordan.
$125,000 signing bonus. I think he could have done better and possibly improved on his stock next year. But who can blame him?

      Congrats Coop and good luck.

And yes.. unless some guys step up next year, our bullpen will be our downfall next year as well.

      ... No really, deuces.

Is that really his bonus, $125,000?

I can't find confirmation on that amount.

I sure hope its not correct.

That's what they said on the news tonight...I really really hope that's not true. He can get a job flipping burgers at McDonalds and make that much.

If correct, signing for that kind of money, that fast, after being drafted several rounds later than expected, and having good leverage now and next year, means some of us really had him misread or he felt he had pretty much topped out. Just thought he'd hold out longer and want a little more bonus.

Guess I should look at this on the positive side. If he was sure he was leaving, better for us now than later this summer.

Wow! Signing for that as a kid in the 70s is probably pretty decent.
                  What is he thinking?!?

I was a bit surprised too, but I was not expecting a return so it didn't hit me that hard.

I think a few fans underestimated how Coop was playing his hand. He sure could have at least waited a little longer. I guess he's just a conservative guy. :(

If this is true we can put the "sign-ability" away as an excuse for his draft position. He was drafted as 9th rounder and got 9th round money.

Last year 9th round high: $625,000
                      9th Round Avg: $139,000

                      highest were: 625K, 550K and 417K

Looking at those figures, it would look like he got college senior type bonus, not college sophmore.

After taxes and a new car (they always buy a new car) that doesn't leave much.

I hope he invests it well. That minor league paycheck won't go very far.

Hopefully he will defy the odds and make the show some day.

He must have wanted out pretty bad to sign for so little and so fast or he is not very smart.
Let's hope he can hit a D-1 Curve ball!

To me this indicates Coop felt he had topped out and couldn't do any better. It also may indicate he is not planning on playing baseball and just took some money to get started in something he is really interested in. I only say this because this seems like the actions of someone that no longer wanted to be at WSU or that is no longer very committed to baseball as a profession. Interesting to say the least.

He did get 5 future college semesters paid for in the package.
