  • Oral Roberts Overscheduled - May not Play Shox

Kennedy just said that ORU has overscheduled and will likely have to cancel Tuesday game since their own remaining games are in conference.

They said DBU is one under so maybe we can just play 4 with them?

I'm really losing respect for Oral Roberts.

No kidding. They also mentioned it was breast cancer awareness night. Hopefully that can be moved if the game isn't played!

ORU should have to play and suffer the consequences. That is not our problem. If not next year we should schedule 60 game then at the end of the year just say oh well sorry.
First a Baseball fan then a Volleyball fan and then I guess I follow the basketball team.

If this game would have meant something I would probably be angry, but this year it doesn't mean a thing. It would probably be another Johny Wholestaff afair beatdown by ORU anyway.

Make them schedule us next year with a extra home game and hope the coaching staff can do some upgrades and this team can get back on the national stage.

According to Gene Stephenson, Tuesday’s game against ORU is on. The view from people in the pressbox, and on the radio broadcast, was that ORU might not play because it is overscheduled. Stephenson plans on playing.

If ORU decides to play they have to give up 2 games next season.Unless they get luck with a rainout next weekend. So I'd say it's up to them if we play tuesday night.

Suellentrop reaffirms that the game is on ...

“The rebellion on the populist right against the results of the 2020 election was partly a cynical, knowing effort by political operators and their hype men in the media to steal an election or at least get rich trying. But it was also the tragic consequence of the informational malnourishment so badly afflicting the nation. ... Americans gorge themselves daily on empty informational calories, indulging their sugar fixes of self-affirming half-truths and even outright lies.'

Shane really let his mouth overload his a** on the radio during the broadcast Sunday.

He was positive that there would be no game tonight.

I guess he found out he is not calling the shots?
Let's hope he can hit a D-1 Curve ball!

So now another head coach in the region will hate Gene?

Let's just hope after all this fuss about a mostly meaningless game, certain things don't happen:

                        1) ORU gets here, it starts and continues to rain, game cancelled, and goes home (do they get a minimum $ for coming?).

                        2) We play and get are arses handed to us (again).

                        3) ORU doesn't care and just plays the bottom players and pitchers (less than glorified scrimmage).

                        4) That they decide not to schedule us in the near future (probably won't happen, means too much to them).

                        5) Someone gets hurt (could happen anytime, I know).

I'm curious; did ORU ever think there was a possibility that they wouldn't play this game? Or is this situation just something invented by WSU radio broadcasters Sunday and then discussed here on Shockernet? I went to 2 ORU boards and see no mention anywhere of them not playing the game or that it is even an issue. They do mention several times that they have a game in Wichita on Tuesday. I assume from the comments from you guys of lossing respect for ORU and needing to move the game, there must have been a quote from ORU's coach that I missed...would someone mind posting a link for me?

Hopefully it's not a case of fans getting their panties in a wad over a non issue. :D

Gene said (paraphrase) last night that he was talking to ORU earlier this year about maybe having a DH. They told him that wouldn't be possible because they over scheduled. He asked them what game they were dropping if they were still overscheduled - they said that has never happened and thus never will. He asked them again and got the same answer. I think he said he asked the question again and they gave him the same answer. He decided that it was their problem, not WSU.

He elaborated that usually there is some agreement in the contract with certain schools that games could be dropped if they continue to be over scheduled. There was no such agreement with WSU in the contract thus the game will be played. Of course - there is still plenty of time for them to lose a game to weather.
