And Mike says now the losing streak to these guys reaches 6 in a row. I LOVE IT!

There is a whole generation of kids that hasn't seen WSU beat ORU.

That is actually a pretty funny line.

There were a few positives from tonight. First, Springer continues his power hitting with another home run (Harbutz also continues to surprise with his 4th homer).

Second, It is great seeing McKeever ptich so well again. He threw 1 and 1/3 very nice innings.

And Cobey Guy really looked like a closer tonight, striking out the side in the bottom of the ninth.

We got to see 9 shocker pitchers tonight. When is the last time that happened? And for the most part, most of them pitched okay against a very good hitting ORU team.

I was waiting for someone to pump a little shine into all this.

uh usually im pretty negative but come on. wsu was going to throw 8-10 guys no matter what tonight. oru throws thier weekend rotation along with other guys. this really wasn't a game. WSU was looking to get work in and oru was looking to win. take away a few very pathetic plays by shox infield and wsu wins that game all while testing the entire pen. no excuses but come on doesnt mean anything.

In 07 wsu got beat by oru 2 times in regular season then beat oru in regional. in 2008 wsu lost to osu twice then beat them twice in regionals. of course this year i don't even know if wsu makes regional. lol

i really am starting to think play absolute duds mid week only . Load up on really good teams pre confereece weekends and any open weekends and then just play garbarge mid weeks.

ORU RPI 166 - how much of a dud do you want?

IPFW average 7 runs against ORU last weekend
MSU averaged 11 runs in 3 meetings
WSU has average 2 runs in 3 meetings

It all points to a very bleak reality surrounding WSU baseball

Went to most of the game and just don't enjoy these 'pitch-fests'. Throwing out 6-8 pitchers is no fun to watch. Just a formal scrimmage. Mike Kennedy did about make me wreck my car with his call on the COB 'almost slam'. :-)

Ta Town, since you keep bringing it up, it should be noted that those "weekend starters" for ORU are basically part of all that's left of a decimated pitching staff.

Beeler and Smolen, who both pitched last night, are true walk-ons.

Furmanek, who threw a complete game against the Shox in Tulsa and started last night, was a catcher/DH last year - now he's been forced into the starting rotation.

We basically threw what we had available, keeping them to 1-2 innings each in the spirit of the evening.

Good luck the rest of the season - see you again in a couple of weeks.

Fans or players? I distinctly remember a 2007 win against ORU in the Wichita Regional en route to beating Arizona in thrilling fashion.

Me too I was there for every game. The 2007 regional was a blast.
First a Baseball fan then a Volleyball fan and then I guess I follow the basketball team.

Regardless it's ORU's weekend rotation out there, in other words your best. I was simply pointing out that there really wasn't any shame in losing last night, at least for a pitching staff perspective. Now the sloppy defense is another story and in my opinion what cost WSU the game.

Sorry you took offense, I think if you look back thru my post I was irritated at first, then wrote it off as bullpen work, then found it kinda jerky when they kept bringing them out there.

My comments about playing puds during the week has nothing to do with ORU or thier choice of pitchers last night. More so just a way for this team to develop the lessor players with out getting embarrassed is all.
