That... was unbelievably embarrassing.
The 8th alone was painful to watch, but when Kemp mercifully got a ground ball, the SS didn't know there was 2 outs and tried to complete a DP for the 4th out.
I say tried because he threw the ball into the dugout.
Caster & Kemp need to stay in the dugout and become full time BP pitchers.
Caster couldn't find the plate with a map and when Kemp finally throws something over, it is absolutely meat on a stick. 8)Above all, make the right call.

Good Grief! Show a little pride Gene. It's one thing to lose, but another to be pistol whipped while you're on your knees begging for mercy as they steal your lunch money.
At least show some grit for the Shocker fans who make the long ass trip up to coyote nowhere NUBraska to watch their beloved Shox play a pathetic Bix XII corn muckers.
Enough with the beat downs. What the ....??!!??!!
Stop with the analysis paralysis BS and roll up your sleeves and freaking win some ball games on the road. Worry about winning games and let ADES worry about fund raising. What the crap is going on with your program?
I'm trying to keep a positive outlook, but it's getting to be a major freaking joke over there. Get the "Mean Gene" attitude back and win.

So, Shirley -- be careful what you wish for when you call for McGreevey and Mateychick as opposed to some of the other bullpen guys, as you did after the Sunday disappointment vs. SIU.
Tobin's line was okay tonight -- one of the few -- but by the time TJ finished his evening, the game was already long gone, especially the way the "offense" failed to show up.

WSUwatcher, yea and holding them for last night was a great move.
I still contend that the game Sunday was more important than last night and that TM & TM would have been more effective against SIU than they were against the Bugeaters.
They could have rolled Shelly from the baseball office out there last night and she could not have done any worse.Let's hope he can hit a D-1 Curve ball!

My posts on here are few and far between, and usually quite short if I do muster up anything of perceived value. They've become incrementally longer in recent weeks, but here's something I observed after seeing the guys live and in action for the second time this year.
I agree with your other comment re: saving our weekend guys. I realize you have to have some confidence building during some of the mid-week games, and that is fine (e.g. Tabor, Rogers, etc.) But "should/must-win" games against BCS (and some that are not) schools that are competing every year warrant putting a guy like TK or Coop on the mound for a few innings. Great... Coop goes 6 innings and gets pushed to Saturday (3 days rest) or Sunday (4 days) and we're still in the game... hopefully.
Preparation should start before you even step on the field for warmups. I could tell by watching infield practice that we'd be in for a tough game. The energy wasn't there and it translated into what I saw as a sloppy pre-game. Granted, that didn't translate into terrible defensive performance, but the energy level set the tone for the entire game.
Cue the plate performance.... It's hard to watch guys go to the plate and either A) not take the bat of their shoulders or B) when they do take their hacks, they're awful ones at that. Grimes' first AB of the game that was essentially a preview for the rest of the evening: 0-1, 1-1, 2-1, 3-1, 3-2, K (looking). Didn't take a swing. Three FRESHMEN combined to shut us out and kept us to one legitimate hit in the ballgame, but I will tip my cap to them just the same - they got ahead in the count and had our guys chasing balls in the dirt. It's tough to win a ball game when you play catch up at the plate and on the scorebard, stare at the great pitches and swing at the 59 footers.
At the end of the day, I'm still very proud to be a Shocker, but am frustrated just the same as so many of you are and have been over the past two seasons.
