Good start for the Shox in the MVC. Every series each team is going to have 1 starter that can hold the team at bay - if they can win those games then they can have a chance for sweeps. This was that game in the Bradley series.
Shox found a way to win it and in dramatic fashion with Lassley walk off grand slam. At least now they go into the KSU game as winners of 3 in row.
Great pitching by the Shocks this afternoon. Lowell was masterful, it is a shame we could not get him the decision in this one. However, McGreevey did not pitch poorly. The home plate umpire squeezed him to a ridiculous degree that inning. Additionally, the only base hit he allowed was a ball that Springer should have had (and McKeever would have?) on a chop that he gave up on as soon as it left the bat.
The offense was putrid all day. Heck of an ending though.
Winning games like this are what can make or break a season. We will probably take 90+ percent of the contests where we play well. However, gutting out games that we deserve to lose will make the difference between this year's team and last year's team.
I hope CL is back to his oldself after this game. We really need him to start pitching like we know he can. Perhaps early season rust cost him, let's hope he is a well oiled machine now.
