Shox get commit from Juco outfielder (edited)
Three years of eligibility remaining.
“The rebellion on the populist right against the results of the 2020 election was partly a cynical, knowing effort by political operators and their hype men in the media to steal an election or at least get rich trying. But it was also the tragic consequence of the informational malnourishment so badly afflicting the nation. ... Americans gorge themselves daily on empty informational calories, indulging their sugar fixes of self-affirming half-truths and even outright lies.'”

I'm glad we've finally started hitting the JUCO ranks for recruiting. Aside from a few guys here and there (Dirks, Blasi, Haines, et al), it seemed like Gene was really averse to loading up on these guys for a long time. I imagine getting ravaged by the draft every other year for a decade finally changed his mind.
If this guy hits anything like Preston Springer, I will be thrilled.

Not actually a "signing", rather a verbal commit. The signing period is next month.
With all the roster spots opening up after this season, going the JuCo route makes a lot of sense to help fill in the roster, especially with 3 years of eligibility remaining for Schebler.
All the scouting notes point out that he is a good student, so I thought it a bit odd he would settle for JuCo.

Scott Schebler - for any doubters
don't doubt. This kid is a flat-out stud. Tremendous athlete and hard worker.
Last year he made headlines around eastern Iowa with some amazing things he was doing at the plate. I checked out some video my station had shot plus other sources and all I could think of was "this is a guy we need."
Thankfully the coaches at WSU got wind of him as well. It doesn't hurt that UNI and Iowa St. dropped their programs. Even though he grew up about 10 miles from Iowa City baseball at the big school is an afterthought.
The recruiting ground up here is fertile - lots of good youth programs and lots of good players, but no place for them to go. The Shocks could make a great pipeline out of this part of the country. We've had some good ones in the past, let's hope the trend continues.

Originally posted by WSUwatcherTa, someone in the business like Hovpen can certainly correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe juco players are always draft eligible.
I'm surprised lawmaker didn't already write to kiss this guy off to the pros.

with 87 at bats.......
.448, 4 HR, 29 RBI, 11 doubles, 1 triple
Not bad, just have to remember this is division II NJCAA. Not saying that takes away from the numbers just saying keep that in mind.
also he has a teammate that is a sophomore OF who is putting up good numbers, Nick Anderson..........I wonder if he has a team lined up.
Hit .358 with 5hr as a freshman in part time role last year and currently hitting .458, 6 hr, 30 rbi in 83 at bats this year.
