  • Arizona State's Pat Murphy resigns

I just bet there is more to come out on this.

yeah he was a cheat. That been known for several years since one of his players decided to talk after he Murphy ran him off the team. Of course the NCAA has been moving like pond water on their investigation - probably trying to figure out how to only hand out wrist-slap.

Here is a little history behind the murphy resignation. The murphy scandal was predicted on VT own "SalukiProf" on his own blog clear back in February 2008

The fuse has been lit on an explosive new scandal, this time in the baseball program at Arizona State University . As always, it will be mon...

I think it's pretty easy to read between the lines from that statement that something was going on.

Is there any concern this could affect our coaching staff?

I think the first questions you have to ask is there any NCAA sanctions coming down on them or not? And what are they going to be?

As far as WSU coaches, IMO:

JT not going any where (except with Gene).

Kemnitz - I think Kemnitz only HC chance is with WSU. Whether fair or not, the molina incident will always be a weight around his neck.

Gene - I could actually see him give some consideration now that he's a bachelor.

No one's going after Mean Gene at this point in his career.

I would think this would be an ideal time to go after mean Gene if you were ASU. Get a good young assistant and groom him to take over in 3 to 5 years when GS retires and land one of the top pitching coaches in the country at the same time. It almost worked for OU.

If Gene bypassed OU, he's not going to ASU.

And I agree, he won't be given much look anyways.

Some pretty blatant and long term infractions.

Murphy has since hooked up with the Padres.

                          Pure unadulterated and blatant cheating.

Wichita State would be given the death penalty if they committed those infractions.

Wanna bet ASU gets off with no real sanctions?

Didn't we have an in depth discussion with some ASU fans about this very case some time back.....maybe it was a different website or message board....my memory is a little fuzzy on the subject unfortunately.

Something about a former player that blew the whistle and Pat claimed he was a jilted player...many ASU fans said it was all bull....ring a bell with anyone?

There was a SIU fan (I believe a professor at SIU) that was following the Murphy saga on VT and was posting details there.
