With all of the points Charlie, Shock City, 85 and others have made, it pretty much confirms Matty's place in the Ignorance/Moronic Hall of Fame.
The only thing I know for certain about the baseball issue is that the new stadium will allow Creighton to play night games (something that can't currently be done at the complex). I suspect that alone will lead to an increase in attendance, but how much is the unknown.

I'll say this....having a baseball stadium that allows Husker faithful to drink endlessly in an effort to forget how crappy their once proud football program is now will certainly boost BJ attendance.
Any opportunity for an Omahan to make an ass of himself involving beer will be exploited to the fullest extent possible.

How many night games will you guys actually play though? We don't play at night for the first part of the season here because of the weather, and you guys have even worse weather.
I think 3:00 start at 40 degrees does better attendance than 7:00 start at 20 degrees.

Asking people to take time off from work every Friday to attend a baseball game is a tough request. Regardless of the difference in temperatures, I still think that an evening game will attract bigger crowds than afternoon games on week days.

1. There will certainly be a degree of curiosity regarding the new stadium. Many people may go to games for an opportunity to experience the new stadium. CU is smart to take advantage of that opportunity. It was a successful strategy when the basketball team moved from the Civic Auditorium to the Qwest. We couldn't regularly sell out the Civic, but after moving to the Qwest we now have over 13000 season ticket holders. It is well documented that many went to games at the Q, enjoyed the experience and then contacted the athletic department to obtain season tickets. Who knows whether CU can deliver the same thing with baseball, but it 's probably worth the effort. I'd also expect Media coverage to improve.
2. Every luxury box owner at the new stadium will be required to buy a minimum number of CU season tix. On its face, that may not sound like a big deal, but because the stadium will be the home of the CWS, and many local and national businesses will use those boxes to entertain clients at the CWS, they are sure to sell. I have no idea how many season tix this will account for, but I'm sure Rasmussen knows.
3. Union Pacific, Mutual of Omaha, Conagra, Tenaska, Berkshire Hathaway (and its affiliates), Peter Kiewit Construction, FNBO and Godfather's Pizza are all Omaha based businesses that want to be involved. Corporate sales will be higher than ever before because advertising opportunities available at the new stadium are significantly greater than at the complex. Once again, I have no idea how many season tix these entities will sign up for, but I bet Rasmussen knows.
4. We will be able to schedule better opponents. Some CWS regulars have already expressed an interest to play series in the regular season so that they will have some familiarity with the stadium in the event they return to the CWS. This will presumably lead to a bump in attendance, plus create some nice marketing opportunities.
Ultimately, I see it as a no lose situation. Building a new stadium of their own is still in Creighton's long term plan, but why not take advantage of a new stadium on the edge of campus for a few years in the meantime? One thing is certain: Its better than the existing complex.

A little off the exact topic, but how does everyone up there feel about the O Royals not playing at the new park and electing to go to a new smaller park in Papillion?Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind. ~Dr. Seuss
