Mike Pelfrey stayed in New York with his wife, Angela, who gave birth Thursday to a son, Chase Michael Pelfrey, who weighed 7 pounds 14 ounces. Pelfrey’s scheduled Saturday start has been bumped to Monday.

Chase bats left, throws right. His mother was one of the best city league basketball players in the 90's. She's about 5'10." We need to get after this kid. Is there a thread in the recruiting forum? Class of '26.

News: Pelfrey allowed three runs on eight hits and a walk in a seven inning no-decision in his final start of the year. He will leave the team to be with his ailing grandfather and will not start Sunday.
Spin: Pelfrey finished a disappointing season 10-12 with a 5.03 ERA and 1.514 WHIP. He allowed 18 homers, six more than last year - and he pitched 16.1 more innings in 2008. Pelfrey's walk rate climbed to 3.2 per nine innings this season from 2.9 in 2008, contributing to the rise in his WHIP from 1.360 last season. Pelfrey remains under the Mets' control for four more seasons and will fall shy of the major-league service time required to qualify for arbitration this winter, dropping his salary from $3 million to $500,00 next season.

And if things go according to the usual pattern in MLB, Mike will be about 176-5 next season with a 2.48 ERA and sign a 7 year deal for about $136 million.

Much of that salary will go towards a downpayment on new developement of an as yet un-named "building project", the details of which will be released sometime next fall in conjuntion with a huge announcement regarding campus expansion.

Mets exercised an option to pay Mike Pelfrey $500K in 2010, after which he'll be arbitration-eligible.
