  • The time has come to step down

After 12 years of running ShockerNet it is time to pass the torch. A number of factors has brought me to this decision. There are things in my personal life that need more of my attention (spirituality, family, friends). And while my passion for Wichita State sports hasn't waned, my passion for developing ShockerNet has. You all deserve someone at the helm who will give the site the attention it deserves.

I can't stress enough that what has made ShockerNet such a great place is the membership and participation of all of you. I've truly enjoyed the years of banter and will continue to do so.

With that said, rather than put the site up for sale to the highest bidder, I wanted to make sure it would fall into good hands. So without further adieu, it is my pleasure to introduce you to your new Grand Poobah, . . . ShockBand!!!

      Royal, are you serious????

I know I've been a pain in your side at times with my KC Royal ribbings and other nonsense, but I truly do think you are an excellent person and I enjoy reading your positions/views/points on here. I truly appreciate the excellent service that you have provided to me and all the other SN'ers over the years.

While I definitely understand the reasons for calling it quits as a mod, it truly isn't gonna feel the same knowing that you're not gonna be the Boss.

Thanks for everything you have done and I hope we can still get contributions from you from time to time.

Thanks for all the time you have spent behind the scenes making this possible.

          Wow

Don't blame you, Royal; this has to be pretty arduous.

But I'll definitely miss your leadership. I'm not a big fan board guy (too time-consuming) and don't even bother to look at others except via a link in the occasional Shockernet post, but from what others say, my impression is that this board is a rare oasis of relative civility in the desert of Internet babble and BS. And I think that's a reflection of your willingness to insist on some standards.

I hope your successor can fill some pretty big shoes. Thanks for your distinguished service.
