By my count put 3 teams in super regional. I could be counting wrong though.

    Rice, Southern Miss, East Carolina

I know its a dream but really wish we were in that conference. Sure Basketball would be down but the baseball would be dang good.

I know south miss usually isn't that good but Rice, East Carolina, Tulane, and Houston are.

CUSA did very well this year...East Carolina is a rising program in baseball and football...

C-USA is a conference that could be changing in the near future. It would not surprise me at all to see some member institutions shuffle.

      TaTown--I agree.

It will be interesting to see what, if anything, comes of the Memphis fiasco.

          Hmmm...

Then you'd be complaining about the reduced quality of the basketball, Ta, and the lower league RPI. If C-USA basketball can't consistently outrank the Valley with the help of Memphis -- and they haven't -- what would happen if Memphis comes back to earth?

          Plus, there's football...

Did you read my post or just parts of it?

I addessed both lesser basketball and the fact that its just a dream.

Sorry baseball is my favorite sport. Rice coming in for a 3 game weekend series makes me smile.

              Nope

Read it all, Ta. My point is that of course you're thinking baseball now -- and, by the way, I'd love to have a weekend series with Rice at Eck Stadium too -- but come basketball season you'd probably be singing a different tune.

Besides, even though I share your preference for baseball, the fact is that WSU basketball has always been their cash machine and the straw that stirs the drink. So, even if they could, WSU isn't going to do anything that would diminish basketball for the sake of baseball. A pipe dream, indeed.

Ta - I would love it too. I think the problem with any change is travel costs for baseball. I think Gene should use his remaining years to create a independant baseball conference with WSU, Creighton, MSU, Oral Roberts, Dallas Baptist, Rice, TCU, Lamar, and Texas-Arlington.

It would be awesome to just be in a conference with Tulsa again. I say we change our name back to the University of Wichita, grab Mo-State and move to CUSA when the shakeup occurs. From that point on we hitch our wagons with TULSA and MO-STATE and do everything we can to stay in the same conferences as them.

As for basketball, our program is strong enough that it can survive the move and doesn't need the MVC to be viable. I am not saying we would dominate a new CUSA by any means but we would be very competitive and perhaps have more opportunities to make the NCAA tournament. We all know baseball is in need of something to help reignite the spark, a conference move with a greater southern presence might just do the trick.

Got to be able to put up a football team to be in CUSA. Currently they are an "all sport" conference...unlike the Big East that has a basket ball conference of 16 and a football conference of 8.

                      Well...Tulsa doesn't have baseball.

                        Thanks for that earth-shattering revelation.

Thank the good Lord. Why I don't know but it sure helps us out.

Tulsa used to be a national powerhouse in baseball. They were a regular in the ncaa tourney in the late sixties and throughout the 1970s.

They dropped baseball in the early 80s due to title 9 problems.

I also think that WSU becoming a power and recruiting so heavily in Oklahoma helped their downfall (IMO).

How about this conference:Memphis, Tulsa, Wichita State, Missouri State, TCU, Creighton, St. Louis, Southern Illinois, Houston and either UAB, Southern Miss, or someone else. Alternative two:

Memphis (state) Cincinatti, Louisville, Wichita State, St. Louis, Drake, Southern Illinois, Creighton, Tulsa, North Texas State, West Texas State, New Mexico State, Bradley

Oh Yeah, we've done that. It was cool then though!
