I was talking with Darren Grimes, Tyler's father, last weekend and he told me that Tyler was going to Alaska to play this summer. I wonder if his injury has changed those plans?

I am planning to follow several of the younger players this summer to watch their devlopment. One player i was really wanting to watch was Chance Sossamon. If he develops any at all i think he can be a very good closer for us next year. I'm dissappointed he is not on the list.

By now, Internet addicts should know SS Tyler Grimes is out. He will be in a cast 6-8 weeks with a broken right wrist. It will likely cancel his plans to play for Kenai (Alaska) this summer. WSU couldn’t afford any injuries and it is particularly thin on infielders. Just when the Shockers got some momentum rolling, bad news takes its chunk of flesh.

I don't know anything, but usually the first release of the list is missing a few players who usually wind-up somewhre.

I agree about watching Sossaman's progress. He's a pretty fair infielder and could be a good hitter, too. He seems very competitive, too, which would serve him well as a closer.

I won't be surprised if Kelley gets drafted either and never makes it to Santa Barbara.

Cooper, Jones, Lowell, and O'Brien all going to the Cape Cod League and all playing together. That's really good news. Gillaspie and Coleman both developed well in that very good league and these guys should come back as a fired-up group.

Kelley?

Not to disparage Tim's performance, 85, but what on earth about his work this year has been so compelling that a team would draft (or pay) him high enough to cause him not to be back next year?

He's been solid and once in a while excellent, but he's still more of a finesse and technique guy than his size would suggest, and one who has some work and development in front of him. Just because a guy is eligible doesn't mean he'll be drafted, or drafted high enough to matter.

Because MLB teams are greedy.

I'll submit the stats below into evidence as Exhibit A. These are each pitchers stats for their draft-eligible season. Tim's stats are comparable to most of the recent Shocker draftees. If I recall correctly, the only one below that was a senior was Rob Musgrave (I could be wrong about this, I don't have a media guide handy). Consider the numbers other than W/L and Tim's are darn good. Losing starts due to the weather and the relatively low number of innings don't help.

I understand he's not a lefty as were several of the pitchers listed, and RH pitchers aren't as highly sought after as lefties. I also understand the Tim's performance is really only just a single season. All the others had multiple successful seasons and one season does not a pro prospect make.

How high / how much money would it take for him to sign? We all thought Logan Watkins and Dusty Coleman would be wearing black and yellow this season.

I certainly believe he could greatly benefit from a JR season. I guess we'll see.

BTW, I included Pelphrey's stats for his JR season for fun. Tim doesn't come close to those. They're just SICK good.
