  • Grimes Injured?

This would be Very bad news, he is the lead off hitter and nobody else on the team can come close to his defensive abilities at SS.
Who will step up if needed?
Hopefully he can play, but it's his right hand, making it even worse.

    Anybody know more about this?

WSU SS Tyler Grimes has a broken wrist & likely won't play this weekend. But he tells KSN Sports Casey Walkup if he can play through the pain he will.

Not that I'm expecting us to do much this weekend anyways, with the regional that we are in. I expect OU will shut us down on Friday, and Arkansas looks pretty tough too, not sure about the other WSU. But if we don't have Grimes this weekend, forget about it. We can't afford to lose a player like him, who can helps us both offensively and defensively.

His wrist was wraped up this afternoon at the selection show party. If he is unable to go Taylor Brown or Sossaman would likely play short.Huge loss if TG can't play.

KU won a championship 20 years later in b-ball, so maybe we can do it in baseball . Maybe, we'll see another team in the postseason (ie we got the bad embarrassing stuff over in the early & mid season).

I'll say it again to myself, how freaking sweet would it be to have a story like Fresno State's last year .

Back on subject, channel 3 said it was a vague fracture. We'll see how things develop tomorrow.

I just don't see how anyone with a fracture, much less a sprain, will be able to swing a bat or throw a ball without some serious pain.

While it would be a HUGE blow, Grimes' health isn't worth a regional title.

Wrists are everything to a baseballl player. Look at Big Papi, David Ortiz, his wrist issues have certainly caused his game to go downhill. If broken, Grimes should not try to play and it is a damn shame. I would have loved for him to get some post season experience under his belt as a freshman. This stinks.

I remember the black shirt with gold tin lettering pretty well. It said 'Back to the wall we played them all"

                              Well...

Brown probably does want to step up, Fever, and offensively he may even be able to do so for the most part -- but shortstop is primarily a defensive position, and the question is whether he's capable of stepping up defensively at the requisite level.

We may see Sossamon at short, with some combination of O'Brien or Brown at 3rd and DH. Oh, for some additional middle infielders who really are middle infielders, as opposed to converted catchers, DHs, etc.
