  • The travesty

More on the travesty that was this year's performance by the NCAA baseball selection committee buffoons (apologies if this has posted elsewhere, in which case please feel free to close the thread, Royal -- and thanks to Paul Suellentrop for the link).

It's probably too strong a word to say that Tim Weiser "cheats," but I suspect the fans of Dallas Baptist, Notre Dame, and Virginia Tech -- just to name a few -- wouldn't object to the term at this point.

Hey, am I reading that right?

Pat Murphy, Head Baseball Coach at Arizona State University is on the SELECTION COMMITTEE??????!!!!!!!!!

This is the same Pat Murphy that has knowingly cheated, correct?

Someone tell me I read that wrong.

Interestingly, ASU's regional has ORU as a #2 seed. Cal Poly #3.....Kansas Weslyan is the #4 I think.

    That is utterly SICKENING.

    Virginia is a #2......ORU is a #2.......that's about right.

One month into another dominating college baseball season, Arizona State coach Pat Murphy faces claims of academic fraud and recruiting improprieties in his program. What's going on? The answer is rooted, in part, in a friendship gone bad.

Way off base? Try again. Somehow this faded into the distance...Pat probably was assigned to oversee the investigation.

There is no doubt in my mind ASU is a dirty program run by a dirty coach.

That he is on the committee, I don't care if he was the second coming, is 100% laughable and a joke to fair play.

The fuse has been lit on an explosive new scandal, this time in the baseball program at Arizona State University . As always, it will be mon...

            travesty

I'm not a fan of Murphy's coaching style nor am I defending him but this is really old news and nothing has come of it. the ad at the school is relatively new, didn't hire him so has no allegiance. So, if there was something of substance, it likely would have come to light.

All of these articles are from the perspective of the guy that got canned. No facts here guys.

As for Murphy sitting on the selection committee, that is BS. no coach should have that role.

I'm not sure any athletic directors should hold that role either. Conflict of interest.

The basketball committee has a lot of ADs on.

Who do you think it should be?

DI AD's on any selection committee screams favoritism. It's wrong and it always has been wrong.

People that don't have a direct vested interest in the outcome.

I would feel fairly certain you could find 12 DII AD's that would be more than competent to APPLY the rules set forth and make unbiased and thoughtful decisions. Of course, the powers at be would raise holy hell....I wonder why?

I think the OJ Simpson jury could be more fair and unbiased than most of these ADs and coaches? Having D1 ADs and coaches on the selection committees would be like having the Senate decide their own salaries and pay raises. Just plain stupid!

I think ONLY non-conference SOS and RPI should ever be factored in.
