The 2009 BCS Baseball Tournament

coming in late but skimmed through the last 3 pages or so. Here's how I see it playing out in William's eyes:

Top 100 teams or so in the country get to stay Div 1 and compete for national championship. All other current div 1 teams are forced to become div 2. This creates too many weak sisters of div 2, thus forcing the bottom half to become NAIA, and so on and so on.

How many teams would stay D1 if they were told under no circumstances will you ever be invited to play in the NCAA Tournament? It is just reserved for top 5 or 6 power conferences.

Dan don't take this personal, there are alot of posters on here with the same missconception. Take a look at the top 64 in rpi on warrennolan.com
not that that would be the best way to decide the top 64 but is a barometer of sorts for now. Now do those 64 teams come from only power conferences? The answer is no they do not, there are plenty of little guys in that mix.

Ok, would half of Division I make you feel better instead of 2/3 of Division I?

Regardless, if your crackpot plan was implemented, the BCS schools would stop playing the middies and eventually those middies that are in your Top 64 now would drop out.

You still can't respond to half of Division I not having baseball. You don't care. And that is sad.

Ok, for argument's sake, say there are still are a few select middies who get to play BCS members. That still doesn't account for half of Division I baseball not being able to play the BCS high RPI teams. They have no chance in your system. But who cares right?

Fresno States RPI AFTER winning the NCAA tournament was "50 or so". What was their RPI BEFORE winning the tournament?

If the Shox played these teams at home during the season and won by these scores and in the way these teams did we would be on here complaining about how the program had slipped.

Bottom line is there is now a lot of equality in college baseball. Maybe not depth buy any given day it can happen. RPI for baseball is a joke. The only stat you need to know is was what claycpa said earlier in this thread:

If this is true, RPI should NEVER be used to compare teams or decide who is in or out...
