    WSooner,

You misunderstood the first point, which was the catalyst to your over reaction.

"Top notch" most certainly meant top notch but was probably in quotes to differentiate from the non top notch baseball program.

No one disputes the difficulty with getting fans to games.....there are other interests but with the great football fanbase you have to admit it is a bit of a head scratcher that at least there aren't more bandwaggoners...there are at every school, including WSU.

I don't think any of us questions the fan support....what is curious is the lack of a quality venue. It would take NOTHING to put together the money to upgrade and make that place special. NOTHING....maybe a 1/2 dozen phone calls, that's it.

The University of Oklahoma should not have any venue in need of attention.

That you decided to mock WSU fans, on our site, in a challenging manner no less, does not show much class. As a long time supporter of Oklahoma, as a son and grandson of letterman at OU, I am embarrassed by your classlessness and arrogance.

You should really hope OU wins tomorrow.

First of all, the venue is small but is getting attention. This year we added the jumbotron scoreboard and sound system (which I think you guys travelling down here will appreciate) and an indoor training facility that is being lauded as an addition that will pay great dividends with regards to recruiting and player development.

Page Not Found (404): It looks like you're lost... The page you are looking for no longer exists.

So there is development being done to help the team. I think we all agree, adding seats to L Dale would be a waste of funds as it would do nothing to increase the attendance. So personally I appreciate the administration spending what money they do on things that will make a difference.

Now, L Dale is small but it isn't the wasteland you guys seem to make it out to be. It is a comfortable place to play and watch baseball. It's obviously no Eck, but it is a clean, well maintained little park.

As for my "classlessness" and "arrogance" if that's the perception then I guess it's also the reality, but I can assure you there are many other ways I could have come barging into your house.... I certainly try to at least engage in debate and listen to all the points whether I agree with them or not and I don't resort to name calling or flaming...... I guess you have a higher standard.....

      Edit:

I didn't see it anywhere else posted on this site but the opening round starters are as follows:

      Game 1-Washington St. vs. Arkansas

Washington St. LHP Matt Way (8-4, 2.49 ERA) vs. Arkansas LHP Dallas Keuchel (7-3, 4.14 ERA)

      Game 2-Oklahoma vs. Wichita St.

Oklahoma RHP Andrew Doyle (8-4, 3.89 ERA) vs. Wichita St. RHP Tim Kelley (5-3, 2.64 ERA)

Lot's of aces.... should be a good start to a good weekend of baseball in Norman

I help moderate another baseball board & I'll be honest that I didn't see much or anything of WichitaSooner being "classless" (other than his 1st comment but maybe it's just me . On the other board, there's a thread related to this one, that thread is about how small Irvine's field is for their regional. UCI's stadium only holds ~900 chairback seats. Well Fresno State fans (not all but there is quite a few) expect royalty. They can be very classless (again not all).

Anyways back on topic, Wichita State fans (I'll admit myself included) thought OU's stadium & following would be larger. Especially considering your success recently. At least myself, figured that your success plus your following (ie football), would translate into more $$$ going into baseball (ie. bigger & better stadium such as LSU or UNC). WichitaSooner brought up good points as to why that's not the case. And let's be honest, if somebody said those things about Eck, we would get at least as defensive. Because that's our home park + field that is being questioned.

With that said because I'm incredibly tried & probably not making any sense, I'll wrap it up. IMHO, you raised good points and appreciate your thoughts. Good luck in the regional (even though based on this seasons performance you probably won't need it  ). I'm looking forward to tomorrow even though I won't be able to make the trip to Norman .

So a city that has a million people in it, can't pack 2,000 at a baseball game featuring a Top 15 team? And it's because of the... Oklahoma City Thunder?

You came off quite snobby Sooner, but you have made some valid points. Next time don't roll out from beyond the cave with that arrogant tude and you won't generate that bad of a reaction.

I've been to "the Dale" and it does have a Little League feel to it. I'm sorry.

I wrote a novel and all you took out of it was this???? ^^^^^^ nice out-of-context indictment.... are you an attorney?

It is definitely smaller than other parks like those at WSU, Arkansas, Texas, etc..... but be careful.... your need to express your displeasure with it by calling it "little league" almost comes off as - dare I say - snobby......

I said you made valid points. Did you not read all the way down? Jumpin the gun? But also I find it rather intriguing when I look over your baseball attendance figures. Even with your responses, I still am baffled by it.

How many attorneys out there are in their mid-20's? I guess I'm flattered that you would think of such a thing? 8)

No, I've actually been there. It wreaks of "little league". That's not being snobby. That's just being factual. And secondly, this isn't a Sooner board. This is a Shocker board. Know your boundaries before you start calling others snobby..

Again, I'll summarize.... If we didn't have a football team, a good men's basketball team, a good women's basketball team, a good softball team, and an NBA team and didn't have to spend so much time, energy and money following all those successful teams all over the country..... I'm sure OU baseball would draw more. Is that really hard to understand? There's only so much time and money to go around.

                      Let's update the thesaurus

Snobby - "I won't even talk to you because you won't understand what I'm saying."
Arrogant - "I won't talk to you because I am so much smarter than you it will go right over your head."

Lots of posts and words about a dinky, little-league type stadium at a BCS school.

                        What's to argue about?

I listened to the OU broadcast in 2006 and the announcers were practically begging fans to come to the ballpark for the WSU game so there would be a last some semblance of a home field.

WichtaSooner - You make valid points. I think many of us in Wichita have been spoiled by our 1st class baseball facilities. All you have to do is compare them to other schools of our size or to some of the BCS facilities to see that we are lucky to have what we do.

I think there should be less criticism of the OU/OSU park and maybe a bit more appreciation for what we have in Wichita and the work that has been done by our Coaches/Fans to build it (here of all places)!

There aren't a BUNCH of schools that fit the bill....

Texas does well with baseball, but they definitely have the population to draw from. Austin is just a shade smaller than OKC, but San Antonio and Houston are both close.....

Florida is another candidate but I don't know what their baseball support is like.

LSU maybe????? But their basketball isn't usually that big of a draw.....

                              Any others?????

Arkansas does well in attendance for football, basketball and baseball. The only professional sports is the AA baseball team but we also don't have nearly the population base to draw from either.

AGAIN, I'll repeat what I said... EVEN WITH YOUR RESPONSES (POINTS), I am still baffled at the baseball attendance concept. I assume if OU baseball is all petered out, then the AAA Redhawks should have horrid numbers too.

LSU, Texas, Arizona State, Miami, etc. all have similar issues to deal with as OU does, but still draws good baseball numbers and have adequate non-little league facilities.
