Better root harder as Illinois State is batting around in the first inning.

The late game swoon has seemingly turned into a full blown hangover for the Sycamore's this afternoon.

The game tonight is about to become meaningless for both teams.

3-0 Illinois State, heading to the bottom of the 2nd.

              :(

Somebody needs to tell the WSU fans at this game that I'm watching to stop rooting for Illinois State..

Solo bomb off the scoreboard to lead off the Redbird 2nd.. 4-0.

My God, this is getting bad early.

Like most, I usually have a soft spot for the underdog, but I quickly tired of the Trees' junior high cheerleader/softball chants after each score last night.

I don't know what to think or care about except that now is as good a time as any to get hot and start playing well.

One last comment for all those that think I cannot see anything bad in WSU....I have been to my share of games in person this season but last night was the first time that I really saw a discrepancy in talent between the two team....WSU was inferior at practically every field position last night (I am totally excluding pitching here) and that just stuns me.

That doesn't mean I am not going to pull for them, or that I expect them to lose....but we have a ways to go before we can expect to be consistently on the level we expect from the field personell perspective.

The No.2 seed being an underdog? :D

I can't really argue any of your points Doc. Gene has always went after the quick, smaller, speedy guys, regardless of a lot of other things. Hopefully we can turn things around in that department..

Yes, but usually they can flash a lot of leather....I continue to be surprised at how poorly we field....even when we make a play, it was either O'Brien or Grimes who fielded a sharp ground ball cleanly and easily and still couldn't throw out the runner....the kid was quick but come on, he wasn't Randy Young fast. Those kind of plays are disturbing.

I agree Doc. But then again, first-year players who are put in the fire right away typically do things like this. We've usually haven't had to worry about it as much in recent years. I'm hoping after a full year under their belts, that things will change.

Still 4-0 Illinois State heading to the bottom of the 4th..

No runs for a team that averages 9..

And now Ill St. has the bases loaded with nobody out.

I don't think we're going to get the result we were hoping for.

Well, Obrien's future isn't at third, it's behind the dish obviously. However we don't really have a better option at third right now. It is Baez's D that troubles me. Grimes will get better and Mckeever is servicable.
