They fail to mention much of WSU's success except attendance.

College Baseball Programs Become Casualties in Hard Times

    By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

WATERLOO, Iowa (AP) — It was about the worst day Rick Heller, Northern Iowa’s baseball coach, could have imagined. He had to tell his team that the university was cutting the program at the end of the year to cover a budget shortfall.

    ____________

The numbers paint a chilling picture. Nebraska and Wichita State were the only universities in the North or the Midwest to crack the top 20 in average home attendance in 2008, and Oregon State’s national titles in 2006 and 2007 went against the grain in the College World Series, which has been dominated by warm-weather teams since the 1960s.

Now I just hope we can pick up Travis Bennet and Jeff Taliaferro to provide some more quality depth next year. Taliaferro probably makes the most sense since he is from Texas but I think they could both help out especially if some of our players don't return next year for various reasons.

One down, one to go. Hopefully Taliaferro will join his teammate at WSU next season.

Does anyone know for sure if Bennet is locked in to attending WSU?

Could he and Taliaferro end up as Sycamores now that Heller is the new IS head coach?

Travis Bennett is a Shocker. It was announced in the Battery Club newsletter earlier this month.
