Speaking of hitting, a big one-out bloop double by Baez ties this baby up!

    4-4 in the 7th.

And McKeev belts one down the left-field line for an RBI double and gives WSU a 5-4 lead.

Who were the ones bagging on Clint earlier in the year?

We got jobbed. No timeout was called and McKeever smartly came home but the first base ump says time was called or something but didn't signal.

I'll give the first base ump credit -- he blew it, and stood there and took what he had coming from Gene. I've seen umps know they messed up and get all hauty so it was at least nice to see him man up.

        But he still screwed up.

The real funny thing is we couldn't take more advantage of the gifts given to us.

            4 strikeouts, 2 runs..

Chance counters striking out the side to prevent the tie.

5-4 heading to the bottom of the 8th...

He hit it into the gap! We have secretly replaced the team with people who know how to hit. Let's see if anyone notices...

McKeever grounds out to end the threat. We got an insurance run on a clutch hit. Yea, that wasn't a typo.

Speaking of McKeever, he is on the mound to close.

Throws a wicked pitch for strike one.
A bouncer up the middle fielded nicely by Tyler Grimes, makes a good throw but low and the new guy at first didn't handle it.

Another wicked pitch for a swinging strike one.
Follows it up with a very smooth fastball for strike two.
Pulls the string for strike 3 that wasn't called.
Man, that was a fine series of pitching -- too bad the ump didn't agree.

2-2 on a pitch just outside.

Pulls the string again to get the strike out.

That is the McKeever I remember.

Runner still at first, got a big lead, and yet another nice pitch for strike one. Working ahead for the first 3 guys.

Boom, outside for strike 2 called.

And the new guy boots it in left... triple. run scores.

(The pitch was that wicked change he has and the batter knew it was coming as it was the same sequence. Stayed with it and put it in the gap. )
