First 6 game losing streak in Stephenson ERA after SWMO sweeps WSU. Sucks for this years team, but illustrates the fine run that Gene has had during his tenure at WSU and OU.

Gene was the only coach in OU history to never lose a game.Let's hope he can hit a D-1 Curve ball!

I wished I could have listened to all of the Gene Stephenson show (or be able to go back an listen to a podcast) but he did address some things as far as hitting (here is my paraphrase) for 15 minute period I could listen before I lost the signal in the house.
1. He said the hitters seem to have no feel for batting. So if they have no feel for it, they the coaches can't correct them because they won't understand.
2. He basically indicated the issue with hitting is not about having a freshman in the lineup and being young. Said all teams have freshman and WSU is no different. The real problem has been that the upperclassmen did not handle the transition from being role players to being the "Players".
3. He said he's coming to the realization that the hitting problems are from a lack of talent in the program.
4. He said this is not about taking it in stride and hope these guys get better over the summer. If they don't start showing they belong and improve now there will not be a next year. I took it mean that players better start showing they belong in the program or they can watch shockers games from the hill next year.

like I said above, apply option 1 - figure out how to coach -- you guys are supposed to be the experts here.
3. He said he's coming to the realization that the hitting problems are from a lack of talent in the program.
also like I said, apply option 2 - figure out how to recruit....you hand-picked and signed these guys, Gene.

Stop denying and deflecting and admit the real problem.
(HINT: it's not always just the players)although the best things in life are free, upgrades are usually available

Let me see if I am understanding this right. Central Michigan, BYU, Kansas, Arkansas Pine Bluff, K-State, Illionois State, Evansville. Have all done a much better job of recruiting guys that have a better feel for hitting. None of them have made their players better through coaching?
