  • Next Year

I know its early but unless the shox are playing in the championship game of the MVC I've really kinda stopped caring if they win this year. I don't want to hurt anymore  lol

Anyways just kinda watching and rooting for individual stats and progress now.

What do you think the chances are McKeever comes back for a redshirt senior year?

Also I thought I read or heard somewhere that Kelly is a draft eligible sophomore this year (kinda like Coleman last year). Can't remember if he is a redshirt sophomore or true sophomore. Anybody know if he can be drafted this year?

Kelley is a RS Soph and over the age of 21, which means he's
      draft eligible.

I would guess that means he's gone, assuming any sort of reasonable
offer. Sticking around another year is not likely to help him much.

Can't say that I'd blame him, (or any one else who gets the chance
to get out of this program & play in a professional environment).
although the best things in life are free, upgrades are usually available

Not sure what that last statement meant. Are you implying the last three seasons havn't been good for Kelly's development?

Well If McKeever comes back I will feel much better.

Nobody is leaving this years team to the draft. Just my .02. Kelley could use another year as could McKeever. I think McKeever should be done with school this year and be able to focus on baseball only next year. Kelley just doesn't have the stuff to not seriously consider coming back for further improvement.

I'm not sure of the inner workings of Shocker baseball, but I do hope someone steps up and takes over the leadership role. I'd think that would be McKeever.
It just reinforces how much team chemistry, strong leadership of experienced players, and MTXE matters.

Hopefully, the Shox can get on a little bit of a postive run here, and start gaining confidence for the MVC tournament and for next year. I don't want them hanging their heads over the summer, but rather being hungry, working their tails off, and having fun learning how to win.

We are going to have to go out on the recruiting trail. At least recruits will know that if they can hit they will play.

If we get hit hard in this year's recruiting class, if we lose players like Micah Greene to the draft for example, next year will probably be only slightly better than this. And that ain't saying much. Cross your fingers the draft doesn't kill us.

I've come to the conclusion we need to do something about hitting. Players, personnel, whatever it takes -- our approach at the plate is beyond pathetic.

No doubt, it is amazing to me how poor of swings we get on 3-1 counts. They seem to be late on fastballs, when you have to know that is what you are going to get, they either are late or just take one right down the chute, it is really frustrating to watch. It is not like they are fouling them straight back and just missed them, they are either way late or hit a damn lazy pop up to right. I think you could tell this years lineup every pitch that was coming and they would still struggle to score runs.

As far as Kelley leaving or being back, I would be amazed if he wasn't back next year, I just don't see him right now as that hi a pick and to me he still has some growing to do on the mound and could benefit greatly from another year under Brent.

11-21 in the three game series for a .121 average. MSU isn't that good. I cancelled my trip to Springfield because of the weather forecast. There was a funk front moving in.

Gene must have reflected on your post - he basically said the same thing you said on his show today.

Yeah... it seems to be a stationary front.
