Oh, and one more thing ...

It is time for Bret Bascue to be in the line-up every day and the way he's going right now he should be flip-flopped with Ryan Jones in the batting order.

Bascue is getting the bat on the ball in critical situations and has a good batting eye.

Ryan Jones in the batting order.
I am not so sure that Jones should not be moved to the bottom of the order.

      Or on the bench.
Let's hope he can hit a D-1 Curve ball!

Gene & Co. are going to offer all the typical coach-speak about winning now and the frosh were frosh in the fall but not in the spring…yada yada yada. Heck I think with the starting pitching we stand a decent shot of winning the Valley tourney. But everyone needs to come to grips that this is a freakish season that was decimated by the draft and injuries. You’d be hard pressed to find a similar circumstance with any program, EVER, when 8 position players are gone along with the entire starting rotation and entire bullpen.

Everyone needs to realize this is a write-off, developmental season. A year from now if we’re witnessing these same fundamental errors, losing to APB’s of the world, getting swept by instate teams, inventing ways to lose, and generally look dazed and confused then its cause for concern. If this team isn’t competitive in regional play by next season and returning to SR by 2011 I’ll be a little worried. Until then it’s time to swallow a little pride and come to grips with reality for just this one season. Let the kitty/squawk fans have their moment in the sun and forget about them down the road.

The K State fans that were at the game last night were much better than the OU and Nebraska fans, at least from where I was sitting. All of them cheered their teams on but the Nebraska fans started a chant of Go Big Red and one of the Sooner fans tried to start a Boomer Sooner chant although that one went nowhere.

Are they not allowed to cheer?

The only thing more fun than being polite on the road when your team is winning is.................. being loud and crazy. There is a way to stop it, just win baby!

I can tell which program I'd rather have. The fact I know the names of around 5 players (and have seen them play) on WSU and I haven't seen an inning of WSU baseball this year. I think I knew 2 or 3 on KSU (saw them 4 innings in Surprise against ASU before a Spring Training night game in Peoria, AZ), and the current seniors were freshman my last year at KSU.

I've followed WSU baseball since they won the title in 1989, with my first WSU game in 1990, and went to a bunch of games between 1995-2000. Then, there were those weekends I leave KSU to watch WSU baseball so I could watch a real team with great fans. KSU doesn't afford the tailgating and the baseball knowledge that WSU will always have. It's hard to watch baseball at KSU for these three facts: fans want to make it a football/basketball atmosphere for the big games, fans that are there don't have enough baseball knowledge to have conversations with them, and their team has laid down in conference season (perfect excuse to go home and watch WSU ;) ).

If Hoch and Fleming are back next season, it will bring stability to the team, at least in the bullpen. The fielding reminds me (from what I'm hearing) when WSU was trying to find any 3rd basemen that could field north of .900 earlier in the decade, except it seems that many positions have that same problem. When the offseason comes (hopefully in more than 5 weeks from now), the players need to commit heavily in summer baseball and in the rest of the offseason if they want to see any postseason success.
BCSCat could learn a thing or two from you.

                Nice post.

                  Agreed.

Next year, we should be back to normal, conference favorites, and competing to host regionals. If not, then it's time to start re-evaluating.

                    LOL!

                    ...breathe

                    LOL!

So there's some unemployed/professional student/Mom's basement/post whore type over on the Wildkitty Scout forum, who just started a dedicated thread. He's asking if it was in bad taste for the K-State coaches to be "timing pitches" with their stopwatches in the dugout.

                    Hilarious!

BostonWu replied to point out obvious reality, and the rural sheep molesters are just starting to pile on in response.

At this point, I'm no longer wondering for the reason all the K-State fans seemingly disappeared from the game on Tuesday night. I guessing it's because they got tired of waiting and wondering when they could do their oh-so-original first down cheer in unison.

The most impressive thing about last night to me was Chance Sossman. His stuff looked downright nasty.

Any chance he takes over as the closer for the remainder of the season?

Yes, losing to K-State in anything is pretty bad. However, I'm gracious in victory as I am in a temporary setback and offer my congratulations to the Wildcats for beating the Shox 2 straight games. That's not easy to do and one must give credit where credit is due.

Cheering is fine. However the dude that was yelling BOOMER trying to start the Boomer Sooner chant did not realize he was at a baseball game rather than a football game. My first thought was to yell "S*CKS but fortunately (OU was not the team struggling that night) the OU fans did not follow his lead and it died away.

I was basically pointing out that I thought that the K-State fans cheered without the football chant being started up. Maybe K-state does not have a football chant like Boomer Sooner or Go Big Red.

There has been a big turnout of Nebraska, OU and K-state fans at the games this year.

I went to the WSU/OSU regional championship game, and the shocker fans were starting cheers such as "Lets go Shockers". Does that make our fan base "bad fans". People pay the ticket to cheer what ever they want and not just sit there.

That is s NCAA regional game that happened to be at OSU. I would not have problem with a chant like that at a regional game or a MVC championship tournament at WSU.

Still maybe the problem was at the OU game WSU was getting their asses kicked and I was in a bad mood. :wsu_posters:
