You can live in the past, or live in the future...but here in the now...SWEEP. BTW your boy veritas would say, you got swept by DRAKE! hahaha
rofl.. Kitty fans celebrating in the streets. Even one had to create an account just for that eloquently muttered post.
Three facts:
1. Kansas State University leads the nation in bandwagon fans (in all sports).
2. This is just as embarrassing as losing to a Drake, because a KSU and a Drake are definitely on the same level in baseball. It sucks.
3. As you already have admitted to in your screenname, you are indeed a nerd.
Deuces Valley.
... No really, deuces.

Continuing my thought from earlier about squandering innings...
Is there any #3 hitter anywhere who makes less productive outs than Ryan Jones does? Frankly, it's a telling comment about this team's offense that he bats third in the first place.
We are just going to have a much crappier than usual season. I don't expect it to carry over. Our young guys will take big strides over the off season and next year we will have better relief pitching and a stronger 4th and 5th guy. I'm not worried but definitely disappointed with the present. Still fans and players need to scratch and claw for every possible win starting with this weekend. If we could somehow accidently win the league because of our weekend starters that would be some salvage. Remember Oregon State a couple of years ago had a whole bunch of losses and won it all. We wont win it all but if we can finish with as many wins as possible, we can rebound easier.
Don't be so quick to think that getting Fleming and Hoch back next season is going to impact this team in a big way. Arm problems and recovery of such problems are never a sure thing. Example, Max Hutson.
I will believe it when I see it. However, I will stay positive and say that our weekend rotation will be better and dominating. Hoch and Fleming will be 100 percent and will be better than ever. Our midweek pitching will marginally better so maybe we can go .500 during the midweek.
Offensively, it will be more of the same next season. No power, the same ol' uncanny ability to make high ERA guys look like Cy Young, and half the roster hitting below .300.
I've been so tied up in baseball in Arizona (6 weeks of Spring Training and the D-Backs have 18 of their first 21 at home) that I haven't made one trip to see WSU. By the time I do, it will be May 16 for the regular season finale and then the MVC tournament.
I can tell which program I'd rather have. The fact I know the names of around 5 players (and have seen them play) on WSU and I haven't seen an inning of WSU baseball this year. I think I knew 2 or 3 on KSU (saw them 4 innings in Surprise against ASU before a Spring Training night game in Peoria, AZ), and the current seniors were freshman my last year at KSU.
I've followed WSU baseball since they won the title in 1989, with my first WSU game in 1990, and went to a bunch of games between 1995-2000. Then, there were those weekends I leave KSU to watch WSU baseball so I could watch a real team with great fans. KSU doesn't afford the tailgating and the baseball knowledge that WSU will always have. It's hard to watch baseball at KSU for these three facts: fans want to make it a football/basketball atmosphere for the big games, fans that are there don't have enough baseball knowledge to have conversations with them, and their team has laid down in conference season (perfect excuse to go home and watch WSU ;) ).
If Hoch and Fleming are back next season, it will bring stability to the team, at least in the bullpen. The fielding reminds me (from what I'm hearing) when WSU was trying to find any 3rd basemen that could field north of .900 earlier in the decade, except it seems that many positions have that same problem. When the offseason comes (hopefully in more than 5 weeks from now), the players need to commit heavily in summer baseball and in the rest of the offseason if they want to see any postseason success.

Yeah, I agree. The general rule of thumb I believe is it takes a year of pitching after coming back from an injury before they become 100%.
I think I'm more excited about Chance Sossaman and Remington Johnson as Sophs than Hoch and Fleming coming back strong.
Sossaman has 20K in 16.2 IP, throws HARD and has some NASTY stuff. Johnson has had several really good outing with a couple bad ones here and there, but he's getting the idea. He's got 14K in 7.2 IP.
Both these guys need to work on their control, but on the other hand, being a little wild in the strike zone makes hitters crazy.
Chance really looked sharp Wednesday. Could he be a closer with his 90-94 heater?
BTW, Flynn was pretty good Wed., too. A couple bad plays behind him cost him a win and his control wasn't sharp. Looked like he couldn't get a grip and/or release point on his breaking ball at times. Missed DP are killers.
