Please, somebody call into Genes show on Monday and ask him the following questions:
1. Why does he not start the leading hitter on the team (Taylor Brown) when his team is struggling to score runs?
2. Why does he give the start to Andre Letourneau over Brett Bascue and Brett Bascue has been productive and Letourneau (0.164 avg) does not even look like division 1 talent?
3. Why the 2nd baseman can't understand his job is actually cover 2nd base?

1. because he's not one of their 'favorites'. On any of Gene's teams,
playing time has a lot less to do with results than anyone thinks.
2. because Andre is, and Bascue isn't (see #1)
3. because our recruiting process doesn't include actually ever
watching a guy play.although the best things in life are free, upgrades are usually available

Did Will Baez play organized ball before he arrived in Wichita? He commits as many mental errors as ones listed in the box score.
Basketball practice starts 6 months from Wednesday. Get outside and enjoy the warm summer weather, but it can't get here fast enough. 8)Above all, make the right call.

Will Baez must improve. But I don't understand why he's being singled out on a day and season when everybody sucks.
Here's where we are, people ...
Fielding Pcts.
Grimes .943
Baez .931
O'Brien .919
Brown .875
Now, for something lacking here called "perspective" -- compare that list to last year's stellar glove work ...
Coleman .937
Workman .937
Sisney .923
Gillespie .880
Brown .846
There are three main differences between last year's infield and this year's ...
1. On this year's team, only Grimes played primarily infield the year before. (Baez and O'Brien were mainly catchers for their teams last year.)
2. None of the guys on this year's team played significant innings at the DI level.
3. (And most importantly) Only the guys on this year's team have a chance to get better.“The rebellion on the populist right against the results of the 2020 election was partly a cynical, knowing effort by political operators and their hype men in the media to steal an election or at least get rich trying. But it was also the tragic consequence of the informational malnourishment so badly afflicting the nation. ... Americans gorge themselves daily on empty informational calories, indulging their sugar fixes of self-affirming half-truths and even outright lies.'”

I haven't seen a game yet, other than the one televised, but it sounds as though Baez screws up too many routine plays and that's why he's singled out.Infinity Art Glass - Fantastic local artist and Shocker fan
RIP Guy Always A Shocker
Carpenter Place - A blessing to many young girls/women
ICT S.O.S - Great local cause fighting against human trafficking
Wartick Insurance Agency - Saved me money with more coverage.
Save Shocker Sports - A rallying cry

We're 5-2 in the league now behind Missouri at 6-1 and Creigton at 8-3.
Maybe we should have gone with our original schedule and only played one game yesterday and took our chances today. If it gets rained out, we're at 5-1 instead of 5-2.
Also some have said that we should have played a double-header that Friday at Bradley. Maybe Bradley was doing us a favor. If we played a double-header there, we could just as easily be sitting at 5-3 now.
I can see in past years where this might have been to our advantage, but not this year.
