Since I didn't write it, its probably a free read. Not really sure. I'm just the janitor around here.

Thanks Hovpen. I sure hope to get the opportunity to see Garrett play in the Black & Gold next season. If he is the 25th ranked player one has to wonder where he'll wind up in the draft. I went to high school with Nate Robertson and anyone who is putting up similar to better numbers than Nate is someone that I would love to see be a Shocker.

Great article, thanks for posting. I really, really hope he is wearing a Shocker uniform next year, what an amazingly talented staff we could have next year with him in the mix with TK, Lowell, Coop and the rest of the young guns.THERE ARE FLOCKS OF BIRDS AND MANY A CAT ------ BUT ONLY ONE WUSHOCK!

I have heard he tinkers with kids deliveries a fair amount. Now I don't know if that means minor adjustments that take place on a daily level and act more like reminders than anything as a guy pitches to keep and maintain form, or if that means more major adjustments to try and find perfect form no matter the potential hazards for a kids arm.

Well, arm strength has played a great deal in Maize's success. He does like to gradually build up arm strength and stamina, and he urges communication on how the arm is feeling. The number of pitches one throws varies on the arm. I guess I'm just not sure you can argue too much with the success he's had with his players, and he's had some good players.Once a Shocker, Always a Shocker-- RIP Guy Alang-Ntang

Gould pitched the last 2 innings in game 1 and got the win because the score was tied when he entered to pitch. He got the save in game 2 and pitched the last inning only. He played 1st base when not on the bump.
I don't know what his pitch count was, but I believe he was under 40 combining both games. Since he was playing first and also hitting it is not like he was sitting around in between.
As for what is proper...., someone smarter than me needs to answer that. If he were my son in the above situation, it would not have bothered me because of the low pitch count.
The pitching coach at Maize is Jamie Stiverson former Newman pitcher. Garret also has good parents and others around who are not part of the Maize baseball team to guide him in handling "situations" that might not be in his best interests.
The coaching staff at Maize seems to be IMHO made up of standup guys who would never intentionally misuse someone just for the sake of a ballgame.
It seems to me, that these questions are always so much easier to answer and the decisions always seem so obvious when I am not the one who has to make them. ;-)

Gould throws for the win in the first game, yet is put back out on the mound for the save in the second game. I just do not think that it is right to do that to a young man's arm.
Which one of Maize's rival schools did you attend?
