  • KU sweeps Texas

I know, I know this isn't a KU forum... But maybe they really are for real this year. I sure hope we get our revenge.

In the aftermath of the Kansas University baseball team’s weekend performance against top-ranked Texas, it was hard to ignore the novelty of it all. It was a series of firsts for the Jayhawks: The first victory over a No. 1 opponent since 1993; the first series victory over a ranked opponent since 2006; the first […]

I hate to admit it, but for this year, KU and KSU are better than we are and KU earns the top spot with their impressive sweep of Texas. Which by the way, I am not too sorry to see. :D

Oh, and that Ridenhour kid threw 6.2 innings of ball and gave up two earned runs. Damn, I hate this kid for not choosing us and for beating us. He looks like the real deal.

No, Moose, it's just that the Texas program is in decline.
        :D

KC is of course quick to draw his customary negative conclusion, and it's conceivable that he's right -- but probably not. Let's see who's the last team standing this year before we decide.

Nothing against Lee, but I wouldn't trade our freshmen starters for any in the country.

When I saw Kansas earlier this year I was really impressed with them.

We recruited Ridenhauer too, not sure how much of an offer we gave him but I definitely wouldn't mind having him.

Really? K-State just got blasted by OU 29-5.

So, you are going to generalize one team based on one game? They have a better RPI, better RPI top 50 w/l record and they have wins over the Sooners, AZ State and San Diego St.

Believe me, I would not lose any sleep if KSU suddenly started sucking, but the facts speak for themselves right now. KSU is 18-5 and we aren't. So as of right now (with right being the operative word), they are better than us. We got a lot of season left, and I am hoping the Shox can come out of our head-to-head matchups with these two in-state programs with a winning record.

Isn't this pretty much what you've done everytime the Shockers lose - or even get behind in a game- for most of the last several years ? I do agree with what you say about there being a lot of season left.

I like our young team a lot.

I have to agree with KCShox...

Right now KSU and KU are better than us...Kinda like WSU was better than both of them in basketball in '06.

                            Nope

                            Wrong again, Moose and KC.

KC leaps to a hasty and negative conclusion because that's what he does, but don't let him be your Pied Piper, Marty. K-State may have a better record, but despite a few good wins, their schedule strength ranks 194th (vs. WSU's 93rd), according to Warren Nolan. That can pad a record pretty quickly.

Personally, I can't help being skeptical of any team that gives up 41 runs in two consecutive conference games, during which they're presumably using some of their better pitching -- and 29 in one? Good heavens. As I said before, let's wait to see who's the last team of the three standing this year. My guess is that it will almost certainly not be K-State.

Edit -- Ah, yes, Moose; just saw your correction. That explains some things. Still no excuse for KC, though.

I guess I was just going off the stuff I found on that same site...

                              Code:
                                              KSU KU WSU
                              vs Top 50 RPI 5-3 5-5 1-5
                              RPI 65 29 80
I have to be a little skeptical of a team who lets the worst team they're going to play all year beat them, let alone score 10 runs... I do think that we will steadily improve through the year and still win the Valley.
