WHY SCHEDULE TEAMS LIKE THIS

I see absolutely no reason to schedule teams like this. What good except for padding pitching and hitting stats and Genes pursuit of Garrido. I dont believe that even the players can see anything good about games like this. You see guys that are 3 for 22 on the season going 3 for 3 big whoop. These games will do nothing but drag down the RPI for W.S.U. If the Shocks dont win the conference or the Valley tournament, dont hold your breath for a regional spot. This is painful to watch and listen to. Good Lord there are 2 more games of this , not for me Im, out. Will return for Long Beach series .

You have to have some filler games if you want to play the max number. Sometimes games like this can help players work out some kinks or maybe even give them confidence. Much of the game is mental and getting things going against a weaker opponent can still have a carry over effect on some players.

It is going to be hard to max the schedule if you don't schedule games like this. There is a lot to gain by games like this though.

A lot of guys you don't normally get to evaluate get some real game experience. Developing depth isn't a bad thing.

It also helps you get your head on straight. MK gives an example of just such a series against Howard (I think) in 02.

I mean, look at Mitch Caster who has 4 (?) hits now. You know if he keeps that up he is going to be feeling good going into the LBS series.

They can play each other like the fall series if they want to work kinks out. this is pathetic. I am sorry but if this is what is needed to so called filler game, then eliminate 6 games just play 50 game schedule and start season later. If i recall this is the same team they beat 19-0 and 17-2 a couple of years ago. Now it is what 18-0 in the seventh. Its hilarious to hear Gene in pre game talking about how if they dont play hard they will get beat. HA HA
I believe me and 8 of my softball buddies could beat this team would you pay money $$ to come watch that....

When would that have been, Since the Shockers lead the all time series 2 to 0. It must have been the 19 to 2 game in 2007 cause the other game was a shutout 17 to 0 So refresh my memory as to when they put a scare in the Shocks . Look I want the Shocks to do well but not like this. Scheduling games like this or Tabor or Friends does nothing for the team nationally. And I believe that is what we all want to be able to get to a Regional etc. Games like this do nothing but hurt down the line.

You can't play Top 25 teams every freaking game. It's the same reason in basketball you see a few pudd games on the schedule. It helps get youth involved and helps give the guys some confidence and a chance to take a little 'break' if you will.

I promise you WSU isn't the only one that does it.

P.S. We've made the NCAA's with teams llike this on the schedule before so I really don't see your point. The Valley will hurt us more than this 3 game series will.

I've been drinking so I'm obviously thinking of someone else. there was another team we had in for a double header that kept it close in the drizzle.

I think Rosewood may referred to the first game that we play against APB. We led 3-0 going into the 4th. They scored 2 in the top of the 4th. That scared the fan a little bit. We won 19-2.

I've seen teams play series like this, get some confidence at the plate, and carry it over for a few games against other teams.
