    Or Cal State Fullerton, perhaps.

Consider this an automatic SOS boost each season.

      Doubt it.

Let's rejoice in baseball going under! :good: :yahoo:

You know if your going to put out some stupid statement you should be able to articulate your position on it. Oterwise we all just laugh at you. Kind of like I'm laughing at SWMO right now.

And how is it a stupid statement? Because we get one extra filler for Tabor in the weekend slate? I hope all the northern teams around the country lose baseball because they're goin under. It's a good feeling to have.

Btw.. Why can't anyone just say you're welcome after a thank you? Is it too humbling for people to say the "w" word?

I frankly agree with Sullentrop take that he posted on shockwave. Do you have a logical counter.

                1. It frees up a weekend to play a better opponent. The imagination is running wild with the possibility of bringing in another big name for a weekend series. WSU has seven weekends devoted to the MVC.

                2. It removes a traditional RPI-drag from the Valley. It is important the other Valley teams - Bradley and Illinois State this means you - don’t use that weekend to play the NAIA school from the next county.

                3. WSU no longer has to travel to Cedar Falls, where getting in the full series is always iffy because of the weather.

Why does Fever assume baseball faces the same scheduling hurdles that basketball does? It betrays a real lack of knowledge, and is frankly embarrassing for him.

To assume that we could not make better use of a free weekend than schedule a 3 game series against Tabor is idiotic at best.

Tabor was stretching it a bit, in case you didn't get the sarcasm.

Sure, UNI dropping baseball may be a benefit for WSU.. maybe, but just to see baseball falter at a school is sad. Sorry for feeling that way.

                    Embarrassing indeed.

Actually I'll agree with Fever on this one...hold on while I swallow the throw up in my mouth...although from a WSU schedule perspective it might not be a bad thing, from a "baseball is a major college sport" this is a bad thing. At least most schools who have to cut sports for title ix and budget reasons look at dropping golf, wrestling, or track and field, but UNI choosing baseball shows that it's not looked at any differently then those are.

I believe filling an open spot in the schedule will be more difficult than most people think. No one in the south is going to want to come to Wichita when its still cold and sometimes its cold until the end of March. Then their conference schedules are going to conflict with a week end. But almost anyone we schedule will have a better rpi than uni.

Here is link with schools with open dates. There are 7 schools with open dates still for 2009.

For 2010, there looks to be about 50 teams. For 2011 there ~30 teams.

You also have to remember that now the MVC can get rid of the bye week scheduling. That had to be a pain for some teams to fill a weekend if you were unlucky and drew "off week" late in conference season.

I love college baseball but I'm not sure that you can put it on a level above any other sports, generally speaking.

The major NCAA sports are football and basketball. Everything else falls a level under that and how they are arranged depends on what school you're at. Here at Arkansas it's baseball then track then gymnastics I guess. At WSU it's baseball and volleyball. At Minnesota or some place like that it's hockey then baseball. At UNI it's obviously wrestling, track, then baseball.

I think if a school isn't going to put any effort into baseball, then maybe it's better if they just don't throw something half-assed out there.
