  • UNI to lose it's baseball program next year.

They got any players we can take off their hands?

They would have to be pretty good. I have a feeling we are going to be loaded next year, especially if the incoming recruiting class survives the MLB draft.

Never like to see players losing scholarships, but on the bright side, this frees up a 3 game series against a top non-con opponent-hopefully.

Another reason to be thankful for WSU baseball & everything Gene has done.

supposedly it is because compliance (or lack of) with title IX. Their womens sports are underfunded. So instead of funding them properly they are cutting back mens sports.

                News?

I was surprised by this only in that I thought it had already been decided before this year -- I was actually more surprised to see that UNI was still playing.

This also carries a message for the Shocker football dreamers. Note the number of men's vs. women's sports at UNI -- but one of the mens' is a (very strong) I-AA football program, which is the source of the Title IX funding / scholarship imbalance.

I'm so glad we let them join the Valley.

IMHO, this is why I think we are in the wrong conference! Don't get me wrong, the MVC is a very good basketball conference. But, that's where it stops, the rest of the sports programs just don't cut it. If the valley continues to drop in basketball rankings (not sure it will) we should start shopping around. Again just my humble opinion.

Losing baseball anywhere at any level is never a good thing.
                      Deuces Valley.
                      ... No really, deuces.

The Valley really needs to get ORU to join up. Yeah, it would be hard for them because they usually dominate the major sports in that piss poor conference so why would they want to give that up? But I think this would be a win-win for all ORU would get more exposure.

Maybe we can get Arkansas back on the schedule for a weekend series. If I remember right,it was too far of a drive for the Hogs just to play 1 game.I'd like to see that one renewed in the near future.

Ok, nevermind. Seeing baseball disappear in parts of this country is FANTASTIC.

What are we gonna get out of it? An extra series against Northern Colorado?
