Nice pics, you guys are lucky. Wish we'd get an alumni game.

One interesting development in the Alumni game was that Letourneau went in for Baez at second base in the last couple of innings. I hadn't heard about him being considered as an option there.
Looks like he's now the No. 4 middle infielder option behind Brown, Baez and Grimes.“The rebellion on the populist right against the results of the 2020 election was partly a cynical, knowing effort by political operators and their hype men in the media to steal an election or at least get rich trying. But it was also the tragic consequence of the informational malnourishment so badly afflicting the nation. ... Americans gorge themselves daily on empty informational calories, indulging their sugar fixes of self-affirming half-truths and even outright lies.'”

No surprise
Not at all surprising about the outcome -- baseball is a game that has to be played, and rust forms very quickly. That's why, back in the old days when there was no limit to the number of games you could play, Gene used to have his guys in action pretty much as often as he could.
So those who were expecting the alums to win just because they had quite a few known quantities whereas the new kids on the block (mostly) don't, weren't being, shall we say, "realists." As it turns out, I happened to be in Austin recently when Texas played its alumni game, and the current team beat a group of alums that included quite a few current major leaguers, for the same reason.
The bad news is that, also for the same reason, beating the alums doesn't tell us much about how this year's Shocks will fare against other teams that have also been practicing -- but I suspect the rumors of their demise will prove to have been greatly exaggerated.
